Help with spots - gross picture attached

Hi, desperate for some help here. I stupidly squeezed some spots on my neck and they scarred quite badly They healed a bit over the course of the last few days but I am now over a week on and they still look bright red. They look like skin has grown back partially but not fully, but I just don't feel as though anything else is happening. They are really hard to cover up and I'm so self-conscious. I'm not sure whether I should still be trying to 'heal' them or just work on hiding them. Does anyone have any ideas? Bit of make up on here, sorry. I'd be really grateful for suggestions. If there is anything I can do at all.

Good lord that isn’t gross! Stop describing yourself that way.

Looks like pigmented scars to me - I would suggest using something to help skin cell turnover like a BhA (I always recommend Paula’s choice 2% BHA liquid), or an AHA/BHA combo like Prism’s exfoliating glow.

I get these ALL the time whether I pick or not. They do fade, so don’t worry.

Thank you, that’s kind and reassuring. I feel embarrassed, my DDs keep pointing them out...

I just looked that up, and I’ve ordered!

But so that I understand, that’s to exfoliate? So fundamentally I need to get rid of the skin that’s there, is that right?

Wouldn't have noticed it if you hadn't insisted there was one.

There is a bit of make up! They are very red in the mornings

Please use sunscreen if using acids, neck skin is very thin and delicate

LaLaLanded · 24/04/2020 17:32

@thisenglishlife is totally right - factor 30 or above!

And yes effectively the AHA/BHA is to exfoliate although they do have other (good) effects. Google “Paula’s Choice Difference between AHAs and BHAs” - they have a great article on it.

billandbeninsanfrancisco · 24/04/2020 17:37

Thank you. When do I apply the sunscreen? Sorry, clueless...

When it comes to sunscreen, more is better

Got to be honest am a bit confused as I thought the white but was good, skin growing back... and I needed the rest to grow over... but it seems that I need to exfoliate to get rid of the new white skin? I wish I got this stuff, I’m 45 years old!!

It almost looks like molluscum but hard to tell from the photo.
It really doesn’t look bad at all though from an aesthetic point of view.
Hopefully it will improve with some of the suggestions here.

billandbeninsanfrancisco · 25/04/2020 07:22

Thank you. I’m reassured that they’re perhaps not as bad as I think.

It’s just that they aren’t fully grown over - that’s where I’m a bit confused about best next steps

These are really not bad at all! Sometimes there will be a bit of pigmentation (this is actually discolouring of the skin, NOT scarring) after a spot but that will fade:-)

billandbeninsanfrancisco · 25/04/2020 12:37

Thank you, I guess message is not to worry....

They really don’t look bad. Tell your DDs you wouldn’t be mean about their spots!
