Do any thickening shampoos work?

I have baby fine crappy hair. Just wondering if any so called thickening shampoos and conditioners actually work? I have a feeling I know the answer 😞, but you never know! Thank you.

Loreal Elvive Fibrology thickening shampoo and conditioner is brilliant.
I've actually stopped using them both together because they make my hair too thick, so I tend to only use the conditioner with a normal shampoo now. But my hair isn't baby fine so you'd probably want both, but it made a very noticeable difference to my hair.

Yes, the ogx collagen one in the purple bottle 😊

Jayne05 · 24/04/2020 15:40

Brilliant, thanks both! Will try them, fortunately not pricey either 😃

Philip Kingsley one is very good. The one with the yellow stripes on the bottle.

Bedhead fully loaded is good but pricey.

Mine is so fine, I don’t have much hair and it’s very light so very noticeably thin. Sadly the L’Oréal fibrology did nothing for me nor did Bedhead or Tigi. I’m going to try the OGX one. Sadly I don’t think many of them work on really find hair.

Ffsseriously · 26/04/2020 01:14

No fibrology did nothing for mine either, i will say though using the conditioner didnt weigh my hair down, but apart from that no difference. I have never found anything that makes a noticeable difference to my fine dead straight hair, only bleaching/ dyeing it lighter helps a bit.

HaddawayAndShite · 26/04/2020 01:18

Nope. It’s all rubbish. The best thing I’ve found for my stupidly fine, thin and sparse hair is Argan Oil shampoo and conditioner, going as long as possible between washes, heat protectant at all costs and root volume powder.

MarylandMayhem · 26/04/2020 01:19

Of course it doesn't work, how on earth do you think a shampoo would thicken hair?

Snorkelface · 26/04/2020 01:26

Another vote for the L'Oreal Fibrology one but only the blue bottle with the white lid - so the clear shampoo, bit harder to find. The normal Fibrology creme shampoo and conditioner has a pink lid, I found that version too heavy. The Fibrology conditioners do nothing for me at all. Also the Aussie volume shampoo is good too.

Biotin extra strength tablets? I’ve been taking them every day for the past two months and am sure it has made my hair seem a bit thicker/more of it. We aren’t talking major changes, I have to be honest, but definitely noticeable with more volume. I bought mine online, on amazon I think.

I have curly hair that frizzes at the mention of water, yet can go pathetically limp in dry weather. I tried the Paul Mitchell Extra Body range yesterday for the first time - shampoo, conditioner and sculpting foam. I was expecting no change from my usual products but I was really surprised.
I’ll reserve judgment though until I’ve used it for a few weeks .....

Barkingfuckingdogs · 26/04/2020 07:03

L'Oréal fibrology is the only one that made any difference to my hair.
