How often do you take a shower/bath?

I recently found out that a friend of mine doesn't shower every day. To me that's mental. I take a shower every morning unless it's the weekend and I get up in the afternoon (doesn't happen very often!) only to stay at home and then go back to bed in the evening, in which case I might throw some clothes on after cleaning my face and my teeth. However even that makes me uncomfortable.

But this friend thinks it's so normal not to shower every day that it's made me wonder whether this is more common than I thought.

No judgement here - just really curious!

Every day, more like twice a day now though as I have bad ligament pains in this pregnancy and a warm bath is the only thing that'll help it!

Every day here. And every day I smell other people who have not washed. I doubt they actually know they smell. I guess if people do a massive strip wash that keeps you clean but I think many adults would be a bit stinky without a good wash every day (I have a very good sense of smell)

*Every third day. My skin is exceptionally dry. I only use E45 bath oil in the shower, cool showers stay under the water as little as possible.

I'd love, love love to shower every day. But even showering every third day leaves my skin itchy, despite moisturizing with diprobase cream three times a day.*

I wonder if the E45 is part of the problem? It has lanolin in it which is a common allergen. I can't touch the stuff.

Shower every morning, unless it’s a lazy weekend day, when I might have a bath in the afternoon instead.

Started having a bath every day as a teen because I worked in a particularly grotty environment, now I’m 30 I feel conditioned to shower every single day before leaving the house even if I’ve not had real physical exertion. A thorough scrub at the sink won’t suffice as I have an ick feeling that gets me down all day, I bloody hate it! What other people do is their business (if you can get away with a quick wash I am seriously jealous).

I bath or shower every day. As a child in the 1970s things were very different and a weekly bath wasn’t uncommon - I think people just didn’t notice each other smelling then, maybe...!

MoonlightMistletoe · 23/04/2020 20:22

Every morning and sometimes in the evening if I've been "exercising" lol.

SpeckledyHen · 23/04/2020 20:27

Shower and hair wash every morning, and again do both if going out somewhere nice for the evening.

coffeandcake30 · 23/04/2020 20:40

Morning and night! Sometimes on a lazy day don't bother in the morning, couldn't face getting into bed not feeling clean!

Whatevernext1 · 23/04/2020 21:01

Normally at least once a day but twice depending on what I'm doing that day and which shift I'm on. If I'm on an early start I try to wash my hair the night before, but I'm having to wash it everyday at the moment which is annoying,I prefer every other day if I can. Sometimes on my day off I might have a nice bath but I have to shower after,I'm one of those weirdos that doesn't like stewing in my own muck! Just me being a clean freak really,I don't care if other people don't do this Grin
I have also been known to shower more than twice a day if away on holiday or something if I feel the need!

CatBatCat · 23/04/2020 21:06

When I need it. Sometimes every few days sometimes every day. Depends what I've been doing.

Toomanydishes · 23/04/2020 22:43

Once in the morning before getting ready for the day (even if I'm just lazing around at home) and once in the evening/before bed. I can't imagine putting clean clothes on without showering. Same with getting in bed, my skin gets itchy.
I grew up with a weekly bath and hated it.
I wash my hair every 2-3 days tho

EasyPleasey · 23/04/2020 23:11

@IHaveBrilloHair Grin

I have a bath daily otherwise I stink.

trixiebelden77 · 23/04/2020 23:12

I have one 4 minute and one two minute shower (timed for water conservation reasons) every day. Morning and evening. I work in a hospital and so need to be clean both before and after my 12 hr shifts.

I examine people physically at work and there is a musty smell I associate with not washing your body every day that I assume people are unaware of. It’s not horrible, but it’s present.

browzingss · 23/04/2020 23:13

Twice daily, no exceptions

I wouldn’t leave my house without a shower first, hence the morning shower and I wouldn’t get into bed with “outdoor germs”, hence the evening shower.

Not that I’m particularly sweaty or anything, I just have high hygiene standards. I also follow up with a skincare routine (inc body care) so just makes sense to shower first

Twice, sometimes 3 times a day, when l get up and after work. Before bed if I’m sleeping with someone.

Oly4 · 26/04/2020 14:22

Every morning and often again before bed
