I need makeup recommendations please! Dewy foundation and bronzer

I have dry skin and I'm on the hunt for a nice full coverage dewy foundation. Budget around £35. So many are matte finish/oil free which is an absolute no go for me, as a dry skin person even the word matte makes me shudder. I want to look dewy and glowy. I heard good things about Nars but watched a few YouTube videos and dry skin users said to steer clear as it clings to dry patches.

Also looking for a new bronzer, currently I use benefit hoola which i love but coming to the end of it and would like to try something new, so something the same shade would be great (I'm quite pale)

Thank you!

Mac Studio Fix is fairly dewy.

fiorentina · 24/04/2020 07:08

I use a Becca Aqualuminous foundation for a subtle glow which I really like. Bronzer wise I have a Bobbi Brown bronzer or a subtle shimmer blusher (not the shimmer brick but similar) and I like those. I also have the ALDI hula dupe that I rate.

sarahc336 · 24/04/2020 07:40

@terrigrey can I ask what kind of coverage is the Mac studio fix, keep looking at this but never actually got round to trying it xx

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/04/2020 07:51

I use normal face powder in a dark shade for bronzer. Currently i use one from Superdrug that cost £1 Blush

Ladyglitterfairydust · 24/04/2020 07:53

For bronzer maybe try a more cream type formula if you’re dry. Chanel bronze universal is really nice. Although they’ve just updated it and I haven’t tried the new version yet.

Hunnybears · 24/04/2020 07:56

I’ve got combination skin so really dry to the point I have eczema and oily to the point I look ‘dewy/shiny’ but it’s nit supposed to look like that.

For me, putting moisturiser on before makes if even worse. I wonder if you could try that underneath your foundation?

DottyP · 24/04/2020 09:41

Estée Lauder Futurist foundation (the new one). It’s good coverage and dewy. I use Bobbi Brown bronzer in Golden Light.

terrigrey · 24/04/2020 09:49

I'd say it is medium coverage.
I've only ever tried Mac products, but the colour of their foundation doesn't work for me any longer.
I'm not using Bobbie Brown, which is the perfect match colour wise, but I am finding it very drying on my skin, I prefer the dewy look/feel too.

DonLewis · 24/04/2020 09:52

Try the Charlotte Tilbury wonderglow under any foundation. It's like liquid silk! To the point where I can use the cheap revolution stick foundation and it glides on. I think the foundations are a fiver, so offsets the expense of the wonderglow

Elllllle · 24/04/2020 10:25

The problem with full coverage dewy foundations is that they transfer everywhere (fingers, clothing etc).

Chanel does a good one but it's greasy and transfers. Best dewy foundation I've found is Illamasqua skin base - looks amazing but it does get greasy. Makeup Forever Ultra High def liquid is satin finish but you need to apply a lot to get it to be full coverage.

MAC oxidises badly. You can tell someone wearing MAC foundation because it often turns orange around the hairline.

L'oreal infallible oxygen whatever is full coverage and pretty nice but colours are limited.

The drops are a good idea! Thanks everyone. Just felt I needed to come back and say if there's anyone that is into highlighter and looking for recommendations, today I used Mac lightscapsdewith a little bit of elf (I think moonlight pearl) on top and of my god it's absolutely lovely! Put it on at 6:30 this morning for work just got home and it still looks just as nice, hasn't moved.

The Ordinary Serum foundation is very dewy, and they have a wide array of colours. Paired with the silicone primer it lasts all day.

Anthilda · 24/04/2020 22:03

I agree with @BemidjiMinnesota. Those are the exact products I use. Really low priced and lasts ages.

princessTiasmum · 24/04/2020 23:38

I use No7 Instant Radiance it is really dewy looking, but not shiny, about £16 from Boots

hernamewasrio · 25/04/2020 03:30

I love the Rimmel radiant foundation- orange top- I use soft beige and it's lovely. NYX do a great glow primer too.

trytrytrying · 25/04/2020 06:16

I've been mixing some clarins beauty flash balm in with my base and it's lovely. I've had lots of comments - pre lockdown obvs.

ginandcrisps · 25/04/2020 12:29

Is the ordinary silicone primer suitable for dry skin? I don't always use primer but when I do I use nyx hydra touch but it really doesn't make any difference for me!

Hmmm I have oily skin so can't tell for sure, but I think the silicone primer would be OK. It certainly wouldn't dry your skin out any more.
