I think I will but aren't 100% convinced that I won't look like pauline fowler

Posibly, buyt only as PG! otherwise wouldn not touch with the proverbial bargepole- big cardies, aka how to age 3 decades in one minute!

foxinsocks · 14/09/2007 11:50

I have a fab one already from Uniqlo. It's not HUGE but just slightly longer than normal (adn given that I have a long back anyway, it avoids the Pauline Fowler look thank goodness).

MamaG · 14/09/2007 11:50

hmm yes thats what was worrying me! But OK if pg

LaCerbiatta · 14/09/2007 12:19

Yes! I love them, I find them quite flattering on me. But maybe not for everyone...

southeatsastras · 14/09/2007 12:20

no i've got a lovely fitted one from topshop that's much nicer

done with wearing baggy ones in the 80s.

brimfull · 14/09/2007 12:21

no they remind me to much of PF as you said, always feel frumpy and dumpy in them

short fitted cardi is more my thang

Peachy · 14/09/2007 12:22

I ahve long legs and a short back so won't work on me generally- I did the longline knitted belted cardigan thing way back in the 90's, won't be repeating thanks

NDPWantsANewCamera · 14/09/2007 12:23

I have a really cosy one that I only wear indoors, I wear it instead of a dressing gown....

NDPWantsANewCamera · 14/09/2007 12:23

I won;t be wearing it outside

NadineBaggott · 14/09/2007 12:24

Yes - love them.

The cardi-coat is going to be very in this season, so I'm told.......

MamaG · 14/09/2007 12:58

Peachy - I have long legs and short back too, so can look a bit odd

I'm thinking no.

OP posts:
MrsBadger · 14/09/2007 12:58

no way
they cling awfully on the arse
tie belts confer 'sack of spuds' look to all but the sveltest
trim little fitted zippy ones only round here

foxinsocks · 14/09/2007 12:59

yes, very true - you need a long back and short legs . They are finally something that looks half decent on me (not the hugely long ones - they do make me think dressing gown).

Like that hospital programme from the 70s. What was it called? where they sung 'I'm H-A-P-P-Y, I'm H-A-P-P-Y, I know I am, I'm sure I am, I'm H-A-P-P-Y' - they always wore those long cardigan-like dressing gowns.

Peachy · 14/09/2007 13:01

FIS, that was on the toehr day- I only missed it bby minutes, I sued to love that (DH was mightily relieved he wasn't forced to sit through it, though narked at me singing the theme on repeat LOL)

Peachy · 14/09/2007 13:01

(and it was Only When I LAugh)

MamaG · 14/09/2007 13:02

hehe foxy I remember that - I ahd a crush on teh one in the bed with the dark hair

but then, i had a crush on Ted Roach from teh Bill too so I have very bad taste

OP posts:
Peachy · 14/09/2007 13:04

only when I laugh

foxinsocks · 14/09/2007 13:04

ooh Peachy you are good. I used to like the fairer one. It really used to make me laugh that programme. I dare not watch it now because it was probably awful!

lolol at Ted Roach. I used to have a thing for Beech (the corrupt one who ran off - his acting was so poor but I couldn't help liking him) and a bit of a thing for the northern, bald one in CID .

Peachy · 14/09/2007 13:07

scarily the dark haired one was Peter Bowles, from To The Manor Born- I also had a bit of a crush on him

Bet it is awful now, notice the Indian Dr in the cast list, that's always a terrible sign in something from the seventies.

TheMaskedPoster · 14/09/2007 13:09

I have bought a Serape to wear for this autumn/winter
hmmm, does this make me old, frumpy - or both??

however my excuse is my pregnancy (although I really quite like them and would probably have bought one regardless )

Also looking to purchase this cardi too

foxinsocks · 14/09/2007 13:10

ooh To The Manor Born - had completely forgotten about that.

yes, Indian doctors - there was a lot of that around that time wasn't there. Makes me think of that song Goodness Gracious Me.
