My mum (78) has that! I like it on her, but agree it’s not terribly ‘young’.

Floisme · 17/04/2020 09:51

It's not my thing but nor would I take style advice from anyone who's scared to wear something in case they see an older woman in it.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/04/2020 10:34

Go, Flo! Well said. Bravo!

peachgreen · 17/04/2020 10:41

I agree with @Floisme. It's not my thing but if you love it, get it. But then if you loved it, you wouldn't be asking here!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 17/04/2020 10:57

Well this thread has made me feel good about myself. I wear these tops all the time. I’m not 78 years old.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/04/2020 11:30

Dobby - god, don't let it bother you. Wear whatever you like - nobody really cares, however MN often makes it seem as if they do. If I saw you wearing one, I'd think:
a) she looks nice and cheery and her top is pretty
b) how come she can wear them when they don't work for me because the cotton is so bloody thick?!

Oldraver · 17/04/2020 13:43

Ive got a couple of these tops and frankly dont care if it's seen as frumpy or whatever.

I wouldn't pay that price though. I buy for half of that from their Ebay outlet

Xylophonics · 17/04/2020 13:52

I like Joules breton tops when stripes alone, they fit very well and are a good thickness of material, I personally wouldn't wear the lemons. Agree with pp Ebay joules outlet is great value.

Bagelsandbrie · 17/04/2020 13:56

I am not a fan of stuff like that from Joules because it’s so obviously “Joules”. To me it’s a bit like wearing a slogan t shirt or hoodie or something with a brand name over it, which each to their own but personally I really don’t like.

JMAngel1 · 17/04/2020 14:06

Totally naff sorry

Swiftier · 17/04/2020 17:00

The Joules brand is inoffensive and safe. I wouldn’t wear it - not because of my age or anything else, I just find it a bit boring. If you’re looking for a Breton, there are nicer, classic options that will probably get more wear (the lemons mean it’s not quite a classic, wear all the time option).
