What do you run in if you don’t like your body out?

I’m struggling to know what to wear! I have running leggings but they’re quite thick, too hot to wear on a nice day like today. I don’t want to wear shorts as I’m conscious about my legs.
I’ve tried so many leggings but struggle with how thin the material is, I feel like you could see every single jiggle when I run.

Do I just deal with the thicker running leggings or is there a miracle outfit you can recommend?

Ps I’ve put this here as I’m not sure where else to put it. I know it’s exercise related but I still want to look nice when I exercise!

Cropped running leggings? My best advice would be just wear the shorts. I guarantee that noone else will give your legs a second thought. Go on, brave it. See how you feel afterwards.

Cropped running leggings (Under Armour do some good ones) and a long running top (baggy).

CMOTDibbler · 15/04/2020 14:00

Compression leggings/ capris are thicker material and stop the jiggling feeling. I like to feel a bit more covered up, so prefer a skirt/ skort to run in over leggings/capri/shorts. My skirt is from Gins Running Stitch, and my favoured Skort is Montane though I'm going to buy a Flanci one

Running trousers?

Or something like these www.decathlon.co.uk/run-dry-cropped-trousers-id_8552236.html

Oh yes, I forgot my Nike running skirt with built in leggings. The perfect solution OP...

Some capri running leggings might work, not too hot or too short. Maybe try a size bigger so they are a bit looser? Run before 9am or after 7pm - at this time of year it's nothing like as hot but still daylight.

I've got really hideous fat legs, veins, cellulite, pale and terrible skin - I think naff it and wear running shorts in summer. It would be unbearable and just put me off running from overheating, otherwise. I'm pretty sure I don't look like a gazelle even in thicker leggings. I wouldn't wear shorts otherwise, except on the beach.

Hoohaahoo · 15/04/2020 14:09

Maybe I need to get over myself and just wear the shorts, I just really hate having my legs out.

I think I will try out a longer top with some thinner leggings. As long as my bum is firmly covered I don’t mind about my legs.

I really wouldn’t worry about jiggling.

I just look at someone running and think “oh yes, I should do some exercise too” I certainly don’t look in detail at what they are wearing/look like or critically appraise them other than if it’s dark and they’ve got nothing hi-vis on which is a pet hate of mine.

Lovemusic33 · 15/04/2020 14:16

I wear shorts, I don't care that I'm showing off cellulite and stretch marks 😊, I'm sure no one really look a anyway.

Boopear · 15/04/2020 14:17

Sunglasses. So no one recognises me.

Happycow · 15/04/2020 14:37

I wear reasonably thick leggings (just got some tikiboo ones after a recommendation on here!). Id rather put up with a bit of warmth to stop the jiggle! Not for the aesthetics of it - but i find the jiggling is uncomfortable. So id rather be held in tight. Plus a baggy low-neck tshirt as i cant stand anything tight on my top half!

TheMarbleFaun · 15/04/2020 16:32

High waisted 7/8 leggings and a loose vest if it's really hot
I seem to have developed a bit of an obsession with running gear due to the lockdown Hmm

squishedgrapes · 15/04/2020 17:50

I have a pair of Adidas running shorts which have a pair of inner shorts that hold me thighs and hide them, with a looser connected shorts over the top that hide my bum. They're very comfortable. Also I think men's shorts are longer and looser

Swiftier · 15/04/2020 18:18

I’d suggest cropped leggings, but get a decent brand as they’ll feel less see through/more secure. I recommend Sweaty Betty. And then a longer/lose running top, Sweaty Betty have loads of these too.

Something like this www.sweatybetty.com/shop/bottoms/leggings/power-cropped-workout-leggings-SB5464_WhiteBrushstrokePrint.html

Although, honestly, nobody would be looking at you in shorts, sometimes it’s good to build up to it. So maybe start with cropped leggings now and by summer you might feel comfortable in shorts.
