Hi. I think I have tried almost every skincare system going and I need help and advice please. I have skincare with blemishes that I think are hormonal. I've tried Clinique and all of the blemish systems. I was talked into going back to basics around six months ago by a girl from the bare minerals
Counter. She sold me a cleansing oil, moisturiser and serum, the cleanser and moisturiser were greAt but when I added the serum
I started breaking out badly so stuck with jus the cleanser and the moisturiser whixh for about a month was working wonders for my skin and I thought I'd found my holy grail until I started breaking out all along my jawline. Since then I was seeing a consultant regarding a treatment and while I was there we got talking about my skin and she recommended me a number of Murad products. The next week I popped to my local Debenhams to buy some products only to be told by the consultant there to use completely different products after she did a skin analysis. The products weren't moisturising and ruined my skin within a couple of weeks. I went back to the bare minerals and a few weeks later went to Elemis when I returned all of the murad products. Tried Elemis for a month, my skin broke out straight away but when I contacted Elemis they said to continue and see how I go, another week in and my skin got progressively worse. I read online if I broke out wherw I wouldn't usually this isn't purging. So I stopped and went back to bare minerals and straight away my skin has started to calm, I still have bumps under the skin and the odd spot but my skin is much better. I'm just hoping someone can recommend a skincare brand to me that can help with combination blemish prone skin that won't dry it out. I looked at tropic but everyone who seems to review it seems to sell it whixh is off putting! Sorry for the long post! Tia 😊

Hi, took me to my mid thirties before i sorted my skin out. I switched all products to temple spa for 1 year before i started looking at changing some parts. It really sorted me out and now i still use some temple spa bit (cleanser and toner) and some drugstore brands.

One thing i stopped was using abbrasive exfoliants. I now use the ordinary acid peel and niacinimide. I dont use heavy creams as feel they congest me. Use face masks and other treatments when i feel the need.

Always cleanse night and morning, double cleanse if ive worn makeup.

You need to see your dr, it’s not normal to still be breaking out as an adult.

Ring them, their still doing telephone consultations.

I have spent a fortune on skincare over the years and the only thing that worked was 4 months on roaccutane. Now I cleanse at night using an 89p face wash from Aldi & still wake up blemish free. I have pcos so mine are hormone driven.

I agree with @Fluffycloudland77, a trip to the gp is your best bet. Acne is a medical problem for which there are many effective prescription treatments. I think a lot of people are embarrassed to go to the gp because it’s ‘just spots’ and they feel that other people have much better reasons to visit the doctor. However, in my experience acne can really affect your mood and self-esteem and it is a problem that doctors regularly see and treat. Good luck xx
