Where do your young teens get basics?

Things like t shirts etc.

Dd is nearly 13. She's tall but still lacking any curves, very slim. She's outgrown most of last years t shirts and tops.

She'll need some more t shirts for summer - I had planned to take her to Primark for her to grab a selection of their adult size 2-4 crew neck tees.

I can't do that now.

What shops cater for a similar sort of thing - she wants cotton tees, high neckline, not a feminine cut, not sleeveless, but slim fitting enough not to completely swamp her.
A UK size 2 or 4 would be perfect, or an age 13 as long as it is plain without unicorns or sequins or anything.

Fruit of the Loom do plain t-shirts, or try travel/outdoor shops for sensible cuts and no unicorns.

My DD has all of her stuff from next and H&M, but only H&M delivering at the moment. They do a good range of wardrobe staples and are a really good price too Smile

bookish83 · 12/04/2020 17:50

Asos do size 4 clothes.

I have had some of their basics before (not in a size 4!) So might be worth a look x

Summer776 · 12/04/2020 21:48

My daughter like a few things from Sports Direct and Sainsburys TU range. Their sportswear range.

LellyMcKelly · 13/04/2020 02:56

I got some great basics for my 14yo from H&M.

nellythenarwhal · 13/04/2020 03:12

New Look have a 8-15(?) range (the numbers signify age)

H&M go up to age 16

Whathappenedtothelego · 13/04/2020 08:59

Thanks, H&M look good 👍

How about Gap? Do they deliver?

LlamaofDrama · 13/04/2020 19:30

Top shop do a petite size 4. It fits my tall but very slim 10yo DD, so that might work?

ilovemydogandmrobama2 · 13/04/2020 19:38

Such a difficult age - DD (13) is tall and slim. I find their leggings are good, but the tops don't seem to work for her.

H & M is OK, Zara is a bit hit and miss.

We have had a bit of success with Land's end for basics - T shirts and fleeces.

Tinyhumansurvivalist · 13/04/2020 19:42

Dad is 15 but mostly devoid of curves yet and a size 4 falls off her (I'm only a little jealous 😊) all her basics come from h&m or primark and then for other hits places like Joe browns, new look, select

turtleh · 14/04/2020 15:01

I remember having the exact issue when I was her age, found myself either stuck in childish girly clothes that I hated or clothes I actually liked that were miles to big! Do not miss that age.

I've found missguided really good, it's an online only shop and pretty much does everything from basics, to prom, to clubbing, to beachwear and it's all very reasonable pricing.

They do size 6 in regular fit but also have a whole petite range that might be suitable for your daughter.

Whathappenedtothelego · 14/04/2020 18:56

Thank you for all the suggestions. She is having a brilliant time poring over all the websites suggested (though she was a bit Shock when I said we'll have to narrow it down to one or two, to save the poor postman and delivery staff having to handle multiple parcels.

Hi pretty little things is a firm favourite for my 13 year old. I have just got her this T-shirt in small and it fits perfectly - she would wear a size 4 in PLT or a 2xs in Primark. Might be worth a look as finding the ‘right’ t-shirt is not as easy as I thought it would be!

My almost 14-year-old likes Topshop Petite, Gap, H&M, Next.

Astillbe · 14/04/2020 22:32

My 13 year old dd likes H&M (women's not kids), Topshop, New Look, Pull & Bear and Urban Outfitters. Also Very is good for branded T's and leggings e.g Adidas, Puma, Ellesse.

haba · 15/04/2020 09:25

DD is 14, very slim and about 5' 4".
She wears t-shirts and long sleeved tops (plain ones, not pictures or sequins) from H&M (they do a range of colours in decent 100% cotton, often has 'boys' range tbh), Sainsbury's Tu (but she has now moved into size 6 or 8 adults rather than childrens as she has v broad shoulders/long arms, Roxy (though some have pictures, they go up to age 16 which fit well), Fat Face adult size 8 (the children's range is up to age 14, and she always had that until it became too small).
M&S had a range of decent cotton plain t-shirts last summer, but the colours were too boring for DD. I got some because I like boring and they've washed well and look nice still. I'm an 8, but they had 6 too.
Thankfully DD isn't fussed about fashion, because we have looked in places like superset, new look etc but all their stuff is polycotton mix or viscose etc, and it's not so nice when they're active and get sweaty.

haba · 15/04/2020 09:26

superdry sorry my phone messed up

northernlittledonkey · 15/04/2020 09:28

We buy from pretty little things & paid for the year long 9.99 next day delivery. A one off payment, quite good value & easy returns too.
