Saltwater sandals sizing

TheLongDarkBreakfastTime · 11/04/2020 11:24

The kids have grown out of last year’s sandals, and I’m going to have to buy online. Can anyone tell me how Saltwater sandals fit? I know sandals in general come up big. The Saltwater website says go up a size, but it has this weird UK/US/EU size versus Saltwater size which I’m finding confusing.

I’ve got a foot measuring gauge, so what I really want is a chart that converts foot length in cm to their (weird) sizing - but I can’t find one.

I’m not wedded to Saltwater but I do want sandals that can get wet, and oldest dd has sized out of the Pediped ones which used to be our go-to.

Hopeful bump.

I’ve found them to be pretty true to size for me but slightly on the bigger side for kids! My dd is a 9.5 in other shoes at the moment but I’ve just bought her size 9 saltwaters (they say 10 on them though, saltwater sizing is one size bigger than UK sizes...) and they are plenty big enough! Her toes were at the end of last years size 8’s so there’s plenty of room in one size up.

Basically whatever size your child is in ‘normal’ UK shoes then in saltwater it’ll be one bigger, however depending on where you order from some shops already account for this. I got mine from Office and just ordered my normal size (5) and when they arrived they say 6 on, but they are a UK 5. I think if you order direct from the Saltwater website you need to select the saltwater size, so go up one size from the UK size you need. If that makes sense!!

I've found kids ones slightly more roomy I order from John Lewis and id go with your child's current size there should be some wriggle room in them Smile

Thanks! Complicating factor is I’m not sure what size she is (feet have grown, measuring gauge is in cm) and she’s borderline between adult and child sizes.

I think she’s a 3.5 UK (based on Clarks page converting cm to shoe sizes), which makes her a size 4 adult based on the Saltwater page. Which seems a bit of a leap, and people are saying that they come up big. But then the Saltwater calculator for her foot length in cm makes her a youth size 2! I’m so confused and just wish we could try them on...

They all et on the side of ugly IME.

QuitMoaning · 12/04/2020 16:30

@TheStarryNight

I am confused. How does that answer the question? How does that statement help?

Did the OP say “ please can people give their opinions on some sandals I am think of buying?”

BikeRunSki · 12/04/2020 16:31

I’m a UK adult 8/9 (continental 43) and wear Saltwater 9s, which I order directly from them.

Confused866 · 12/04/2020 16:34

I’d go with the Saltwater calculator rather than Clark’s if you’re buying saltwaters! I find Clark’s tend to measure my kids as a different size to most other shops, they usually seem to measure bigger, so what you’ve said makes sense.

I'm a 3 or 4 in all my footwear and my Saltwater Slides are a size 3, if that helps. Length is perfect and because I have wide feet the buckle is on the loosest hole.

bookish83 · 12/04/2020 18:07

I am a UK 5 and find that they come up a bit large. Wearable, but on the large side. I think your toes are supposed to touch the seams round the shoe rather than the edges, if I remember rightly!

I think the conversion depends on what style you buy. I’ve found the website to be helpful and each time I’ve ended up with something for the kids that fits.

Print off the size guide if you can - it’s spot on. I actually find they come up big. I’m a 41 eur and generally get a 7 in shoes, sometimes a 7.5 or 8, but my size 7 salties are a bit big If I’m honest. Just ordered DD new ones for summer, she can just squeeze into last years 12’s, so have went for a 13, and in normal shoes, she’s a 13/1.

PointeShoesandTutus · 12/04/2020 19:52

Sorry, jumping on the bandwagon. I am wanting to order some for DD - she’s very very narrow. Anyone know if the kids ones come up wide or narrow?

To help the OP, I’m an adult UK size 3.5 and my saltwater sandals say 5 on the bottom!

TheLongDarkBreakfastTime · 13/04/2020 11:40

BuntyCollocks I googled for their size guide, didn’t find it, but did find this handy guide with cm, UK, US, European and Saltwater sizes. So that really helped.

Pointe (love the name, dd got her first pair recently!), the Saltwater page on sizing has good stuff on how wide / narrow each design is. LaPampa linked to it above.
