Niacin cream and finacea (sp?) which is azelaic acid
Acne
Bugger all results
No

Used niacinamide in other products for overall skin benefits. Can’t say I’ve ever noticed improvements.

Was the finacea for rosacea or acne?

I've used Finacea which I think is 20% azelaic acid (prescription only). Used for acne rosacea, it did help for a while. However, it lost it's efficacy for me after about a year. It will help with spots and redness.

I'm using a Superdrug niacinimide thing at the moment and I like it. Doesn't do anything for the redness but is gentle enough to use daily and keeps my pores clear, reducing the odd hormonal zit. I prefer that to using something a lot stronger that aggravates my skin before it helps so I have to be careful when I use it.

I tried The Ordinary Azaeliac Acid and had no results after the bottle was finished. Id been so hopeful.

bogoblin · 10/04/2020 12:45

I use The Ordinary niacinamide and zinc serum and I love it! I use it daily as part of my skincare routine and it "reduces the appearance of skin blemishes and congestion". I find it really works for me personally and my skin looks brighter and clearer. Plus it's cheap enough that if it doesn't work for you you haven't wasted much money!

GirlCalledJames · 10/04/2020 12:53

I use the Ordinary azaeliac acid and hyaluronic avid for rosacea and always have a noticeable result within 5 days. It’s sold out a lot so I have a lot of breaks and am sure that this is what’s making the difference.
I had it very severely before and during pregnancy and no don’t have it so badly. I don’t think it would have solved the problems I used to have.
(I think the lessening in severity has come from going from BMI 24 to BMI 21.)

Thanks everyone, I think I'll buy some azelaic acid from Garden of Wisdom for my lockdown affected skin.

The ordinary niacinamide worked brilliantly for me. Less spots, slightly mire refined pores, over all improved texture.

Their Azelaic acid actually formed spots - the formula/texture if it doesn’t shut my skin.

I used to live their Salicylic acid but developed a bit of a sensitivity so now only the face mask.

Since I started using their products my skin has improved massively.

elotrolado · 14/04/2020 16:16

I also use The Ordinary's Azelaic Acid for mild rosacea on my cheeks. I find it definitely helps!

HermioneWeasley · 14/04/2020 16:20

The Ordinary Niacinimide

I have oily/congested skin. It cleared up my skin and reduced the appearance of large/open pores. Absolutely love it

cannaethink · 14/04/2020 17:46

I use The Ordinary niacinimide on my upper back which is prone to spots and generally looking rubbish. It’s cleared it up really well, I’m Impressed!

GVmama · 14/04/2020 18:11

I’ve been using the Ordinary Niacinamide for a few weeks now. Nothing to report so far!

Mlou32 · 14/04/2020 18:11

The niacinimide; how do you use it? On bare skin? Or after a toner? Before moisturiser?

FrankieGoesToLiverpool · 14/04/2020 19:38

Seconded @bogoblin.

DP was forced onto this as part of my regime to sort his acne prone skin. I think he was surface dry before (but oily) and washing with a good face wash, patting this on and leaving to dry before using a moisturiser has cleared everything up. His skin is 99.9% perfect now.

Very very good product but for someone like me with dry skin, it wouldn’t work.

thisenglishlife · 14/04/2020 21:49

I was prescribed an adapalene (a type of retenoid) and niacinamide treatment from the online dermatology team at Dermatica*, so that will be coming in the post.

*You have an online consultation and post photos of your skin and then they determine the right treatment for you.

The Ordinary Niacinimide for acne/congested skin - no changes as far as I can see. As you can see it works for some, these things seem to be hit and miss. It's cheap enough so i guess i'd recommend it. Depends what you're wanting. For me, Salicylic acid has been effective and that's pretty much it.

HermioneWeasley · 15/04/2020 20:18

@Mlou32 I use it in the morning first thing after I’ve washed my face and before moisturiser/primer
