I'm new to fake tan, keep looking at which brand to go for, What does anyone else use? And apart from a mitt and product, is there anything else I need? As a beginner any tips?

Haven’t a clue OP but came on to post a similar thread!

Last time I fake tanned I looked like I’d been rolled in wotsits, and that was done by a supposed professional!

I’ve been looking at gradual tanners, seems a safe starting point . . .

That's what I'm gonna try first- what brand are you going for @Sanityisaluxury? I like the look of bondi sands!

Give the superdrug Express dark tan a try! It developes in 60 minutes and is affordable. I would recommend using a felt mit instead of thr thin ones you get in Boots etc you can buy one off Amazon for a few pounds :) I also use plastic gloves on my hands until it comes to my hands and then I use a small makeup brush to apply the tan on my hands.

I've been tanning for years it's a brilliant way to get some colour!

The Bondi Sands everyday gradual tanning milk (in the blue bottle) is easy to use, not sticky and smells ok. It is one of the few tans I have repurchased. The dark mousse is nice too, and not very dark.
Fake Bake 60 minute tan is good in that you leave it on for 3 hours then rinse, so you dont get marks on your sheets or feel sticky. The colour is not as nice on me as Bondi Sands but it's a nice enough colour (I am blonde and pasty).
If you do get Bondi Sands mousse on your sheets it leaves alarming red stains, but it does wash out completely with no issues. I have white cotton sheets and have never experienced any stains.

Oh, also recommend the Korean Italy towels for exfoliating before tanning - and to remove the dregs of an old tan before you do a new one. They're pretty cheap on amazon and are brilliant.

I’ve ordered the Bondi Sands tanning milk, a mitt & I also ordered Body Glow from Skinny Tan because it was on offer & had good reviews!

We’ll see how it goes! I still have to go to work, so hopefully it turns out ok Grin

I'm very fair and it takes about 3 goes to get a nice colour from the Bondi Sands gradual milk. You wont see much of a change after your first application- it's really foolproof.

Thanks everyone- do I still need to exfoliate before with the gradual tan?

I do, you'll get a better and longer lasting result if you do. I do a thorough scrub with the Italy towel once a week before I start a new tan, whether gradual or single application.
