Frizzy big and greasy hair

Hello all,

Is anyone able to offer me any advice on my hair? It's just to my shoulders but is so frizzy! It's also manages to get very greasy on your top.

The other day I put conditioner on the ends of my hair and even after washing twice it looked liked I had dunked my head in a chip pan.

I do get my hair cut and coloured every 8 weeks, and I am like most people overdue my appointment due to corona.

My hair does have a few nice ringlets, but mostly frizz. For years my hair was greasy but this stopped being so bad once I started using coconut shampoo.

I feel like my hair is a complete contradiction to itself. I've added some photos, please can I ask for help?

Your hair looks quite dry. Like everyone right now, I think it needs a trim, but there's not much we can do about that.

Have you tried a lightweight oil when your hair is dry, like one of the OGX range, for example?

Try a ACV rinse after washing and conditioning. The greasy feeling could be caused by buildup and it makes hair a lot softer too.

Thank you for the replies!
@Chochito - I will have a look for some lightweight oil.
@sqirrelfriends - I've not heard of ACVBefore , please can you tell mr more about it?

Sorry, ACV= apple cider vinegar.

Sorry but you should lay off the colour and look after your hair. It looks quite damaged, not just dry/frizzy. Looks like it’s breaking off.

How frequently do you wash your hair, if every day I think you should wash it less.

You need new hair care: particularly deep conditioning masks. I highly recommend the mask, and also the shampoo & conditioner from this range. I recommend using the mask every wash initially, you can also leave it on overnight or for a few hours before rinsing it for maximum effect. Also buy morrocanoil treatment, it’s a leave in serum.

Can you give yourself a slight trim? 1cm or less, just to snip the ends and prevent damage further up the hair shaft.

Try the curly girl method. It helps with frizz and reduces greasy roots as it's kinder to your hair...or something like that.

Mine is much less frizzy and I can now go 3 days without washing rather than 2.

@browzingss I have been wondering whether the colour is making things worse. Now is the perfect time to grow it out I suppose!

I wash my hair every other day, the second day it looks like someone has emptied a bucket of grease over my hair.

I have layers cut into my hair which I think isn't helping the overall look.

I'm thinking once we are out of isolation, the best the best thing to do would be to get my hair cut as short as the shortest layer into a blunt bob.

In the meantime I will try some these nourishing oils that have been mentioned. I need to be kind to my hair, I've always been loathe to add more product into my hair as it makes it greasy, but i think my hair needs it now.

I think you’re actually quite lucky as your natural colour will grow out really nicely with your blonde!

Have you tried a clarifying shampoo? It will completely remove any debris and residue from your hair, so will help to break down the oily roots more than regular shampoo. Don’t use it frequently though. Follow up with conditioning masks - the masks will make the largest difference to the condition of your hair. It will add lightweight moisture/softness compared to oils.

Sometimes hair can actually be greasy when it’s actually dry/damaged, as your body overproduces scalp oils in an attempt to restore the balance. This article has more info: www.cosmopolitan.com/uk/beauty-hair/hair/a40754/things-making-your-hair-greasy/

I second the curly girl method! Done wonders for my greasy hair.

Coronacurls · 06/04/2020 18:08

I third Curly Girl - it's really worth a try!

Thank you @browzingss - I'll look at the link you sent me.

I will look into the curly girl method too, I would love to have nice curls.
