How do you make your skin glow?

I thinking more skin care than make up but up for both! Mine looks dull whatever I do. I rely a lot on face powder to set make up which I don't think helps...

It sounds boring but this is what helps my skin:
Glycolic overnight peel x2 per night
Products with hylauronic acid
Keto diet
No booze
2 litres+ water, 1 or 2 cups of coffee.

Raffathebear · 06/04/2020 03:47

x2 per WEEK

ClareVH · 06/04/2020 03:52

Something with Vitamin C in it. I use the Samantha Sona Day Serum and noticed an almost immediate glow to my skin. It's got Kakadu Plum and Quandong which has something like 50 times as much Vitamin C as a lemon. Or an orange. Can't remember which. Either way, it's really good and I've had the bottle for ages as you only need a small amount.

Pyjamasarethenewblack · 06/04/2020 03:55

Also only use face powder on your t zone.

MrDarcysMa · 06/04/2020 12:46

lots of water, veg, exercise and SLEEP. without these no products will help!
Products wise - I like glycolic acid and an nourishing oil like kheils. Make up - BB cream or tinted moisturiser with a touch of strobing cream mixed in.

AgentCooper · 06/04/2020 19:16

Do any of you use cream blush and have you found a decent one that stays on? I use Benefit Dandelion powder and I love the colour (I’m pale but with a tendency towards redness so it’s just the right soft shade) but I sometimes think the powderiness makes my skin look a bit flat.

Chillichutney1 · 07/04/2020 14:13

Exfoliation and a mist setting spray rather than powder. Powder your t zone only. MAC strobe cream is great for a subtle glow

TableNiner · 08/04/2020 09:37

@AgentCooper My favourites are Glossier cloud paint and Daniel Sandler watercolour

disguising · 08/04/2020 10:18

I swear by the Superdrug version of Pixi Glow tonic. It's dirt cheap but really makes such a difference to my skin.

I've recently bought FutureDew by Glossier - amazing stuff. It feels a bit greasy / heavy when it first goes on (I was Shock) but after a few minutes it soaks into the skin and leaves a really lovely, dewy glow.

I've been using it for a couple of weeks now with no breakouts (but I will caveat that by saying I am not prone to them anyway).

jalopy · 08/04/2020 12:23

Absolutely agree with TableNiner.

Glossier and Daniel Sandler are really good.

I also like MIracle touch blush by Max factor.

Greenvalleymama · 08/04/2020 16:19

An acid peel will take the top layer of dead skin cells off and your skin will glow. I use The Ordinary AHA and BHA red mask, it's amazing and has more of an instant brightening effect than any other skin care product I use. Revolution do a similar one, either works well.

hernamewasrio · 08/04/2020 23:29

Highly recommend Beautypie Glycolic and Qi ranges - I've tried a lot in my time and these are the best for a great glow - and drinking water lots as mentioned.

Barkingfuckingdogs · 09/04/2020 08:09

Flawless filter by Charlotte Tilbury.

ps1991 · 09/04/2020 08:12

I just got The Ordinary no brainier set. 5 days on and I’m already feeling more glowy! Although it might be the lovely sunshine too.

MadamShazam · 12/04/2020 19:53

Lots of water, healthy food, and slapping on a face oil within 60 seconds of getting out the shower. I read this recently and have started doing it and my skin does look and feel better already!

Kravarza · 12/04/2020 21:52

Water, water, water, water. Most skincare products are full of chemicals that can damage the epidermal layer of the skin. I exfoliate my skin weekly and moisturise daily. I use nivea moisturiser - basic with minimal chemicals, and I found a great product by Nars. It's called skin glow and it's a tinted bronzer that you use under foundation. I absolutely love it as it's not too much, and just gives you a nice fresh healthy glow.

Trex100 · 13/04/2020 10:31

@MadamShazam what face oil do you use after a shower?

OP - I agree with the drinking lots of water and good diet recommendations, especially salmon.

MadamShazam · 13/04/2020 10:57

@Trex100 I just use a Superdrug Vitamin E facial oil, which I have used for years. It doesn't break my skin out, it actually helps to clear up any little spots I get, and its less than £5.

Gallade · 13/04/2020 11:22

I have no idea about skincare because I'm rubbish at anything other than moisturiser.

But in terms of make up, Iconic London's illuminator is brilliant! I do one blob mixed with moisturiser for my whole face, then a few drops down cheekbones. I love the effect and it really feels like I'm alive instead of drab and dreary.

I PROMISE I don't work for them, but there's a great deal at the moment where you can get the illuminator, plus the prep and set spray, and a full size mascara (which is actually really good although I still prefer my Benefit Roller Lash) for £36.

Gallade · 13/04/2020 11:23

I also love Mac's strobe cream for when I want a more subtle look- I just do moisturiser and eyebrows plus a smudge down cheekbones. It's a lot more subtle than the Illuminator but still good.

BrokenNails · 13/04/2020 14:27

I like Rimmel Jelly blush, I find it gives a sheer, natural flush. Use on top of foundation but before any dusting of powder. A little goes a long way.

I finish with Mac Prep and Fix spray in Goldlite as a setting spray as it also gives a glowy look and helps powdered finishes look less powdery or set, and more glowy.

BrokenNails · 13/04/2020 14:29

But also, as PP have said, if you don't get enough sleep it really shows. No amount of makeup can conceal a lack of sleep on me.

UncleHerbie · 13/04/2020 14:34

Clean face with warm water and muslin cloth
-Air dry
-Serum
-Moisturiser

every morning

hernamewasrio · 14/04/2020 08:07

I'm using the prevage month long peel and already seeing results a week in. It's pricey but I'm indulging in lockdown. Also Qi and hyaluronic products from Beauty pie are amazing. I dermaplane too.
