According to Sky and BBC Radio 4, the administrators are being called in.

I think White Stuff could be in trouble. They send daily, ever more desperate emails about huge reductions.

Please, not The White Company! I love their home fragrances.

Kalifa · 05/04/2020 21:30

Cath Kidston sells naff, overpriced tacky shit. Of course they are in trouble. Flowery oilcloth handbags. Need I say more?
I hope the same will happen to the White Stuff. Wile middle class hangouts.

Kalifa · 05/04/2020 21:31

Vile..

mindproject · 05/04/2020 21:46

Apart from the supermarkets, nearly all the shops are going to be in trouble. lf they don't open the shops for 6 months or a year, and nearly everybody is avoiding shopping online because they are losing income, you can't expect many shops to stay in business.

Millions of people are going to lose nearly everything they have. Am I right or am I wrong?

LuluJakey1 · 05/04/2020 21:48

@RandomMess OK, 50p Grin

symbioticpatriot · 05/04/2020 21:51

You are so right Bitinterested. PE have ruined so many decent businesses. Casual dining also has so many examples.
Over expand, shit quality, over leverage, pump for cash, flog it on and then the business is done for.

Pollypocket89 · 05/04/2020 21:53

'12 weeks of lockdown would finish them'
... Please don't make up faux facts. I'm sure you meant no harm but posting such conjecture just causes panic for those with a vested interest in these companies. Nothing bad has reported about Next or some of the others mentioned

Legoandloldolls · 05/04/2020 21:55

Not Joyles too 😭😭😭 my three favourite outlet shops are Ck, joules and white company. It's all cheap in the outlets. I never buy anything full price anymore

cannotmakemymindup · 05/04/2020 22:16

Awww I know it's not everyones taste but love Cath Kidston but have to agree their old prints, designs and colours. They totally got rid of most of those, usually I shop in their outlet/factory store as I agree full price is over priced.

I have just ordered three items in the sale, I mean a backpack going from £50 to £20, cute diary £4 instead of £20 plus extra 10% off with free delivery does show how overpriced those two items alone were overpriced! I could have spent £70 quid presale now just £22.

I do hope my bargain turns up though.

HarrySnotter · 06/04/2020 07:48

CK is very 10 years ago isn't it. It was everywhere for a while but I don't think their designs evolved very much.

Sad to see another one go though.

flopseyR72 · 06/04/2020 08:20

No one got back to me. Any opinions on these wanted to place order but really can’t decide can anyone comment. I know there is more going on in the world but want to spend vouchers anyway

PineappleDanish · 06/04/2020 09:58

If you like it, buy it. Why are you canvassing the opinions of randomers online?

ButterflyBitch · 06/04/2020 10:06

Just spend the vouchers on whatever takes your fancy and if you don’t like it in real life then when lockdown is over sell it on your local Facebook selling site for slightly less than retail. Someone will get a bargain and you won’t have lost out.

HarrietTheShy · 06/04/2020 10:06

The Disney collabs were very popular and mostly sold out. I couldn't get a number of the items I wanted.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 06/04/2020 10:15

If Fatface, white stuff and Dorothy Perkins ever went I would have nowhere left to buy clothes but bloody Tesco’s. There is a certain undercurrent of delight when shops for middle age/older women go under.

LuluJakey1 · 06/04/2020 10:18

On the news this morning that WH Smith are in trouble and seeking further investment to prevent collapse. Not a surprise.

Gingernaut · 06/04/2020 10:37

Where will I buy my cross stitch magazines???

OP posts:
LuluJakey1 · 06/04/2020 10:43

They are saying if they can get investment they will manage!

Arcadia Group also likely to close many stores- apparently already finding it tough due to increased online competition. I'm sure Philip Greene will make sure he doesn't suffer.

BubblesBuddy · 06/04/2020 10:56

Many in the retail sector had severe issues before any of this started. WH Smith was a prime example. KK is very niche.

I also take exception to a poster (Kalifa) who labels shops as white middle class. And then says they are vile. How that is judged I really don’t know. It’s surely all about choice and White Stuff isn’t expensive. Why call a shop vile? Just shop in a shop that appeals to you and leave the rest of us alone!!

ThomasHardyPerennial · 06/04/2020 11:13

If it helps, I prefer the plain leather bag flopseyR72.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 06/04/2020 12:00

Where will I buy my cross stitch magazines???

A lot of them you can buy online with free postage.

strawberry2017 · 06/04/2020 12:13

All the stores mentioned are over priced. The outlets do so well because the prices are more realistic.
I would be sad to see some of them go buy when they are priced the way they currently are I c won't be surprised

GCAcademic · 06/04/2020 12:39

Debenhams calling in the administrators too. Tbh, I'm amazed they've survived this long.

BubblesBuddy · 06/04/2020 13:30

I think the High Street SD we know it needs to shrink. Spare capacity is a brownfield site and should now be housing land. Often High Streets have good transport links and we need to get creative about what we need in the future in terms of actual shops.
