Dreamworld scenario - which of these two watches?

Prior to COVID I had a bonus and was planning on saving some towards maternity leave and splurging a third of it on a watch that should last me and be a reminder of hard work and my two babies.

Now we are all up shit creek I still like to dream in case things ever get back to normal and I actually have money again that can be splurged.

So I decided on this specific brand for a few reasons and these are generally mid price range for the brand.

I wanted something timeless that I could wear in the day but wouldn’t look out of place in the evening.

(I’m case anyone suggests a Baby G as an alternative Grin)

I'm not entirely sure why you went for these particular watches, or make (I haven't got.my glasses near by!)

However, the choice is.yours.

I think citizen make some fantastic.watches for.ladues, that will good at the office, at the club, or for a cocktail night or even a swaray. You'd save hundreds, but at the same time, never be frightened to wear your nice new watch.

Considering the current situation we find ourselves, saving a few hundred is always a good thing.

Again, the choice is.yours.

I know I'm well pleased with my citizen watch... Keeps excellent time, robust, waterproof, looks good anywhere or any time, never needs a battery, never had a single issue with it.

Ps....
Please forgive any typos, as I said above, I'm doing this without my glasses.

The Dolce Vita without a doubt. I have had mine for 15 years and I still love it. It is classic and timeless.

covidcougher · 08/04/2020 18:17

Prima Luna is dateless. I'd go for that.

Glosgran · 08/04/2020 18:47

I think the watch with the rectangular face looks classic and elegant and would look just as good for day or evening wear.

dhfoody47 · 08/04/2020 19:04

Square one every day, I have a square RW & have worn it day & evening for nearly 20 years Grin

Spied · 08/04/2020 19:10

DolceVita. Definitely.

AgeLikeWine · 08/04/2020 19:13

Of the two, I like the dolce vita. It has a similar look to many Cartier watches, but with a more realistic price tag. At 20mm It’s a bit dainty for my wrist but i’m sure it would look great on someone who is daintier than me...

I bought a Rolex Oyster 38 years ago with my Nan’s inheritance and have worn it every day, never take it off even when swimming or showering. Probably the cheapest thing per wear that I have ever had. Never gone out of fashion! Yes the servicing is expensive but to be honest I’ve probably only done that max 4 times and it then comes back as new.

OP here (namechanged)
@MacBlank love the citizen eco drive. Fantastic movement for the price.
I have a watch a similar style (more sporty diver look) which is the only reason it’s not on my list right now.

However, may put it on the one for future purchases

Looks like the Dolce Vita is getting most of the love here.
My DH would agree with that.
I preferred the Prima Luna

I’ve also started looking at Omega Constellation and Omega Deville (second hand, but still over my budget that might not even be a budget anymore 😂)

Rex oyster is actually something that I wouldn’t mind. But I wouldn’t wear one just yet. I’d like to say I’m too young for one but if I wrote down my age you’d laugh at that.
Anyway, way out of budget because I’d want solid gold and diamonds 💎 .

I’m thinking (dreamworld wise) that if I spent more and got the Omega I’d possibly stop looking.
If I got the Longines I will still one day lust after the Omega.
Then again, plenty of years (hopefully) to get the chance for an Omega again.

Also - the size of the watches. Both the dolce vita and Prima Luna come in 3 sizes, smaller at 20mm and biggest at 30mm.
So I’m not quite sure what size to get either.

My other watches are 26mm, 28mm and then fashion ones which are larger.

Glad this is currently dreamworld scenario as I’m finding it very hard Grin

@Jenny1951 would love a photo.
If I ever had an inheritance I think a watch would be a perfect memento of someone close

Rebelwithallthecause · 08/04/2020 21:12

Price wise - the Prima Luna and dolce vita are currently available from a specialist local watch dealer to me for under £700 which seems to be less than approved second hand prices (unless buying on eBay without box or papers, in which case I could get a bargain, but it likely to be a fake)
But generally is less than the price of a mulberry Halo

Cheapest new Omega with a discount is £1500 (over budget) second hand approved to be around £900 - approx 20 years old

MacBlank · 08/04/2020 21:22

Omega watches do a limited edition bond watch.... Every time I see it, I drool lol 🤤🤤🤤

Rebelwithallthecause · 08/04/2020 21:30

They are really special!
If you like those you might like Christopher Ward watches?

They are masculine in scale but some
do take a few elements of the seamaster design and much more affordable. Really good Swiss movements and hand built in U.K.

Rebelwithallthecause · 08/04/2020 21:31

I fact your citizen is probably a close homage to the Omega so you’re on to a winner already Grin

FeelTheRush · 09/04/2020 12:29

Love the Dolce Vita!
