Solid cleansing balm recommendations

Plump82 · 31/03/2020 17:02

My skin is dry yet oily. I'm trying to up my water intake but figured a cleansing balm might work well?

Ive had one from Primark that I hadn't yet tried and its just lovely!! Thing is the tub is tiny, i cant see it lasting much more than and week and obviously I cant pick up another one at the moment.

So I'm after recommendations. It can't be too pricy, so no Emma Hardie recommendations and I dont like the Body Shop chamomile one, I've tried that before and it needs to suitable for spot prone skin. Oh and be available online!

Not asking for much am I!?
Thanks in advance!

Try one of the Korean ones as ‘dry oily’ skin is basically what they are catered towards.

MinesaPinot · 31/03/2020 17:44

I'm using Clinique Take the Day off cleansing balm.

Boots No. 7 do one as well.

Frumpypigskin · 31/03/2020 17:57

M&S has an Emma Hardie-alike in the Pure range. I'm alternative between that and the Lush ultra bland cleanser which isn't a balm as such but is quite greasy - I really like it.

yorkshireteaspoonie · 31/03/2020 18:03

Vita coca - coconut oil. It's pure, nothing man made (other coconut oils can have additives) you need a tiny amount to emulsify everything off your face... then I use a Magnitone cloth and warm water to remove. I got the large jar about 8 months ago and it's still going strong!

Plump82 · 31/03/2020 18:04

Thanks for all these. I'll have a look. I love Korean makeup so Korean skin care really appeals.

Clinique Take the Day off

Mumof31981 · 31/03/2020 20:47

Was about to reply the body shop chamomile one until read the end! Other than that one, the clinique take the day off is lovely

TheBitterBoy · 31/03/2020 22:30

M&S Pure rose cleansing balm, it's lovely I've used it for years. Not a strong rose smell if you don't like that fragrance - I dont, but I love this.

Plump82 · 01/04/2020 04:51

TheBitterBoy - I love the smell of rose so this could be right up my street. Wonder if cleansing balms are classed as essential shopping 🤣
Mumof31981 - I used the Body Shop one once a few years back and it really broke me out. It might have been a coincident but my skin is so temperamental I dont want to risk it again!
Frumpypigskin - I've heard a lot of good things about Ultra Bland. I dont have a Lush near me. Not that theyre open anyways! You mention its greasy, does any product sit in the skin as i really don't like that feeling.
yorkshireteaspoonie - that sounds interesting. I'll look that one up!

The clinique ones basically palm oil, if your avoiding palm oil.

Grape seed oil is good, cheap, contains antioxidants.

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 01/04/2020 10:01

Beauty Pie do a solid apricot cleansing balm which is quite nice, if you know anyone with a membership who could get one for you to try!

vaz119 · 01/04/2020 10:27

I like take the day off balm. Expensive but lasts ages. I know it's not strictly what you asked for, but what about a bottle of oil rather than a solid ? I like the simple one (and it's cheap)... I bought mine in Sainsburys.

MrsKingfisher · 01/04/2020 10:30

The Elemis pro collagen rose balm is lovely, not a synthetic rose smell very uplifting.

ReginaGeorgeous · 01/04/2020 10:46

Another vote for Clinique.

ClientQueen · 01/04/2020 10:51

If you want a Korean one try the heimish all clean balm or banila co clean it zero Smile

Alsohuman · 01/04/2020 12:44

Is the Beauty Pie one nice @Nowisthemonthofmaying? I’ve been tempted, particularly as my “credit” is piling up.

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 01/04/2020 13:30

@Alsohuman yes I like it! It's quite a mild smell and a nice texture, and it's a pretty big pot so lasts for a long time. It's not my favourite cleanser (that goes to Origins Clean Energy which I love but can't afford all the time!) but I think it's one of BP's better ones and more effective at getting make-up off than the others.

Custardcreamies101 · 01/04/2020 13:43

Merumaya cleansing balm.

Alsohuman · 01/04/2020 17:01

Great, thank you. I’ll give it a whirl on your recommendation.

asparalite · 01/04/2020 22:43

The Lush ultra bland one is my new favourite, finding it very pure and effective.

mommybunny · 01/04/2020 22:53

I also like the Pure rose one from M&S. You should be able to order it online?

Swiftier · 02/04/2020 08:36

I love the Drunk Elephant one. I have oily skin which gets dry in the winter and this works for me.

You only need a tiny amount, using it every day it would last for around 6 months for me, so it is is good value.

MrsRandallFraser · 03/04/2020 18:45

Another vote for the Beauty Pie Plantastic Apricot Cleansing Balm! My skin falls under the oily category and this doesn't break me out at all.

Plump82 · 03/04/2020 19:10

Is Beauty Pie a subscription thing ?
Think ill give the Clinque one a miss if it's palm oil.
I'll look at the Korean recommendations and choose between that or the rose one from Marks.
The Drunk Elephant one sounds fab but out my budget just now.

@Plump82 yes it is, you pay a fee each month to get a spending limit. Personally I think it's well worth it. The limit also rolls over if you don't use it. I think you can get a free month if you use certain codes - might be worth a google.
