Since the birth of my eldest, my hair has been in dreadful shape, and it's gotten worse since my little girl was born 9 months ago.

It's starting to get me down as my hair has always been in fantastic condition. I've tried so many shampoos but nothing seems to agree with it. It's just lifeless and lank.

It's need a good cut and I'm going to dye it as getting lots of Greys through as well. Obviously can't have it cut at the moment.

What can I do with it? Any recommendations for shampoos, products, styling? What colour dye should I get?
I've never dyed my hair so it's a minefield. Thanks :)

I think it looks nice.Smile

It takes a while after having a baby due it to settle down, give it time and it'll be fine.

Soontobe60 · 30/03/2020 20:26

Don't dye it yourself, get one of those shampoos that have a colour in them. Otherwise you'll have the additional hassle of rootsbthatbneed touching up!

morriseysquif · 30/03/2020 20:27

Take a few inches off, maybe it feels bad because you are bored with it?

You can get deep cleansing shampoo to remove build up.

Raffathebear · 30/03/2020 20:46

Cut it so its just above shoulder like a 'lob'

Dye brown or copper

CeibaTree · 30/03/2020 20:54

Get rid of the layers and go for a long bob, I did this recently after having hair similar to your length and it's made the world of difference :)

ArlenesWoodBurningStove · 30/03/2020 20:55

The layers at the bottom are very wispy, whack it off above your shoulders and it will look really different.

Skeeter2020 · 30/03/2020 20:57

You've got lovely hair OP, please don't be down on yourself. You could try a long bob? Maybe a few lighter/ copper type hi lights

MsMeNz · 30/03/2020 21:22

Leave the colour until can get done professionally or just do roots through esalon. And I think it's because you are almost between styles not quite a Bob/lob and nit quite longer, so I'd either grow it out for a few months during this time or like some above says take a few inches off for a swishy long Bob.

IdblowJonSnow · 30/03/2020 21:34

I'd get a few inches lopped off and go a bit lighter or warmer. It looks a bit too dark, although hard to tell for sure when your face is obscured.

Nuttyaboutnutella · 31/03/2020 11:09

Thanks all.
Need to get a good chunk off and a style.

I was thinking of trying a home dye as if it goes wrong, I haven't got to face the world yet Grin going to book a haircut when all this is over.
I'dblowJonSnow it's quite dark but it's my natural hair colour. Love the name btw

Maybe try a side parting?

dontgobaconmyheart · 31/03/2020 13:31

I think it's fine OP? The longer layers at the front are making it look thinner, I'd chop them off, blow dry your hair with your head upside down for a little extra volume and switch up the parting.

Your hair is dark, brown box dye will more likely than anything just make it darker and look artificial, or give that odd red tinge that they tend to give. It'll be a pain to fix- I wouldn't.

babysnowman · 31/03/2020 13:36

I think chopping the ends into quite a blunt cut, then using something like kerastase sugar spray to give a bit more body would look great

Hello. Just wanted to say - do you know if your iron levels are OK? Mine went very low after having a child and this affected my hair - it went like straw.
