Toner for blonde highlights?!

I had my hair highlighted at the hairdresser and I'd like to add a bit more warmth.

It basically lifted to white and I look like I've gone grey! Is there anything I can do at home to make it more golden and less white?

I don't know anything about "professional" toners, but Superdrug do a range of BBlonde Semi Permanent toners. The warm blonde seems to have quite a few good reviews?

Oh thanks @StarsThatTwinkle! I'll give it a go.

Personally I’d leave it OP. My highlights always yellow after a week or two and I have to use purple shampoo to whiten them again.

It's been nearly a month already @Inforthelonghaul. I left it thinking the same but even my husband who never notices these things mentioned I look grey 😱😭

I don't think white/grey highlights (ie hair highlighted so light they look white) goes yellow after time or settles down. I've had overdone highlights myself on my mid-brown hair, I looked prematurely grey they were so white bleached and no they didn't yellow after a week or so! Grin

I bought some golden blonde wash in/wash out (discontinued now) and it did put enough of a blonde colour to just tip it out of white highlights to pale blonde highlights territory, which I was happy with.

Bumble it might be worth trying either a strand test, or putting the toner on for half the recommended time, first time round, just to give it a hint of colour and see how you like it (and make sure it won't be too warm a colour for you). Sometimes it just needs a gentle nudge into a blonde shade rather than a full on blast.

Ah, and purple shampoo over over-bleached hair can stain lilac - I've seen that before too! It's good to clean up yellowy or too-warm highlights (or lowlights) but not for putting a blonde colour in that was never there in the first place.

It will eventually start to look warm/brassy. Even fair that has been bleached platinum requires upkeep to keep it toned

*even hair that has been bleached platinum blonde requires upkeep/maintenance to keep it that shade

@StarsThatTwinkle thanks! I'll give it a go. Frankly it can't be worse than it is currently.

Hi I've recently tried John Freida Crushed violet shampoo was very good to tone down brassyness.

dementedpixie · 01/04/2020 18:02

She doesn't have brassiness though. Purple shampoo will just tinge the white bits with lilac tones.

I've bought the superdrug wash in wash out stuff and I'm going to give it a whirl.

Worst case no one will see me for a while.
