Make up simplification for Lockdown - 4 products and I don't look much different!

So I usually use primer, foundation, concealer,, powder, bronzer, highlighter, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, blusher, eye brow mascara, lipstick and lipliner.

During lockdown I've been using 4 products and my DH said I looked nicer like this!

Chanel Bronze Universal all over face lightly and all around eyes too - really lovely satin finish, very natural but covers well. Bit of an eye opener that I don't need primer, concealer or powder with it.

Pixi Multi balm tint for lips and cheeks - adds fresh colour and lasts really well - just draw on and blend.

Mascara - I love Collection Lash Surge

Eye brow wand from Revolution

That's it! 20 mins before condensed into 3 minutes and I look fresher and younger - who knew?!

Anyone else tapering down their makeup due to LD and been pleasantly surprised?

my hair looks great just air dried and brushed.

Paperthin · 25/03/2020 17:26

Oh no ! I’ve just gone totally downhill then .... no make up at all since Monday !

MsMeNz · 25/03/2020 18:16

I recently got my eyeliner tattooed that I love! So skipping over all skin makeup and eye makeup and just a tiny but if powder to fill in eyebrow gaps as that just makes me feel better. Sure my skin is enjoying the break 😁 spent so much outside in the garden the last few days my freckles are coming out early ☀️

violetbunny · 25/03/2020 19:21

I've just been straightening the ends of my hair instead of all of it. It looks fine!

Have swapped out foundation for Nars Velvet Matt tint. Yesterday I skipped my usual bronzer, eyeliner, multiple eyeshadows etc and just used a couple of Nudestix - a bit of blush on the cheeks, one cream eyeshadow pencil and mascara.

I love makeup too much to skip it all in the long term, but at the moment my usual full face seems like overkill.

Purplecatshopaholic · 25/03/2020 22:10

I am using the opportunity to play about with my makeup more which I am really enjoying. In Skype calls all day as working from home, and communicating on various forms of social media, so no one really seeing the ‘close up’ me (I live alone with my pets, and they don’t care what I look like, lol). Concluded I can’t live without mascara, and doing my brows, but most of the rest is up for grabs. I didn’t put foundation on this morning, just blusher straight onto my skin and it worked really well.

BreathlessCommotion · 25/03/2020 22:17

I haven't done my hair or my make up. And I have an outbreak of spots. It just doesn't matter does it?

And I'm in several video calls a day.

PersonaNonGarter · 26/03/2020 07:46

No video calls here, so no make up. I look hilariously bad but I am quite enjoying giving my skin a break.

Floisme · 26/03/2020 08:03

I've worn hardly any make up since the new year - first I took a break and then, just I was going back to it, this happened. I have to tell you my skin looks amazing. Shame there's only my husband here to see it Grin

Dozer · 26/03/2020 08:04

No make up at home.

JMAngel1 · 26/03/2020 11:17

I kind of feel like it does matter for my mental health - I am super pale and without definition my face can look like a pale moon face! It's been good for my morale to do this short routine. The point of my post was more to say that I want to go ahead with this more simple regime in the future when this is all over - less fuss, less money, less time but with even fresher younger results.

I agree op. I think I will wear less makeup going forward, but I think making a little effort with hair and makeup at these difficult times is keeping a semblance of normality which is good for my MH

nonicknameseemsavailable · 26/03/2020 13:47

well I am in bed ill at the moment so not doing any make up at all but I did find myself wondering the other day whether women will stop thinking they need so many products. One of the things about wearing makeup all the time is that you get used to seeing yourself like that and think that is your "normal", if we get used to seeing ourselves without it all then hopefully we will see that as our "normal". Would save us all a fortune.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 26/03/2020 13:52

I haven’t worn makeup since Friday bar a tiny bit of concealer on a nose spot. I figure video calls aren’t high enough resolution to show much anyway! I’m hoping for my skin to start looking lovely but the wine and chocolate isn’t helping with that!

Floisme · 26/03/2020 13:57

I agree. I'm not against make up but I've found one of the benefits of taking a break every so often is that it gets me used to my own face. And when I go back to it, I see myself afresh and occasionally realise that something I've used unthinkingly for years actually looks a bit off.

damnthatanxiety · 26/03/2020 14:21

MsMeNz would you mind posting a picture of your eyeliner? Just one eye wouldn't be very outing I wouldn't think. I'd love to see good permanent eyeliner

HostessTrolley · 27/03/2020 13:41

I’d be interested in this too - and did it hurt?

Ifonlywecouldwishuponastar · 27/03/2020 15:24

I've still been wearing make up. It makes me feel good. I also have placed an amazon order on a few Items I've run out off.

Deathraystare · 30/03/2020 09:31

I find myself surprised at the amount of eye shadow palettes I have. Anyone would think they appeared by magic!

I am still working at the moment but as this CV seems like it may well be quite long term so at some point may well have to self isolate. At the moment I am concentrating on cleaning and clearing my room. When I have more time I intend to play around with my various bits of make up. I have now put most of it in a four drawer trolley system so I know where most of it is!

aquamarine1 · 30/03/2020 10:03

Hi op, the Chanel make up sounds lovely. How do you actually apply it?

olivehater · 30/03/2020 15:08

Having 15 minutes every day with my led light mask straight after the shower. Slathering my skin in moisturiser.
Trinny London bff all over my entire face and trinny London flush blush or a lip to cheek for blusher ( both cream blushers).
Lip balm.
I just dyed my lashes and brows. So I am just curling my lashes and going over the brows with a nyx brow pencil. That’s it.
Someone commented how fresh faced I looked on face time.

KateCantab · 30/03/2020 16:34

Please can you tell us more about the Chanel bronzer? Is it a cream or powder? Thank you!

JMAngel1 · 30/03/2020 20:00

It's a wierd mousse like texture - a bit spongy.
I put it on with a brush - not a kabuki more of a blusher style brush - small amount just swirled everywhere

Thank you! Sounds interesting! Please can you tell us what it’s actually called? There are several bronzers on the Chanel website and I’m a bit confused.

JMAngel1 · 30/03/2020 21:05

www.chanel.com/en_GB/fragrance-beauty/makeup/p/complexion/bronzers/les-beiges-healthy-glow-bronzing-cream-cream-gel-bronzer-for-a-healthy_-sun-kissed-glow-p185390.html#skuid-0185390

It's this one - exoensive but will probably last years it's that big and I only use a tiny amount. I also simetimes use a smaller brush to line around my eyes and in socket so it's multifunctional - primer, foundation, bronzer and eyeshadow.
