Hair dye

Hi all!

I have brown hair atm (quite mousey) with a bit of a blonde ballyage and a few highlights (to cover greys!). Anyway since I'm undoubtedly not going to be able to get to my appointment next week at the hair dressers I'm considering dyeing my hair myself. How easy would that be to do ? I think I'll just go for a brown all over (I was already wanting to go darker anyway). I'm just worried because it's different colours it might colour all weirdly and look a mess! Any advice would be great :-) I'm a complete novice 😳🤦🏻‍♀️

I have same worry. No idea

First of all good luck with finding any hair dye to buy! There isn't any in the shops. Like you ,many others have had the same idea and have cleared the shelves - as I found out at the weekend!. I've dyed mine for years, but this could be the one that turns me grey"

To answer your question though, home dying hair is very easy. if you have various shades to cover, you might find you will have streaked tones of brown for the first couple of times you do it, but after that, it should even itself out.

Let it grow....let it grow....

Nothing wrong with showing your silvers

I've used casting colours for years. Its a semi, so doesnt leave a line like permanent colours. I too have grey, which only seems to sprout where I part my hair!!! Angry

I'm fairly dark/chestnut naturally. I always buy a shade a few colours lighter, as it seems to come out darker than you expect. For example, I get light brown or iced mocha, or something with chestnut and they come out med-dark brown. If I bought a dark brown however, it would come out almost black! You will likely find the ends do look a little lighter than the top, but worst case, keep it up and dont go out! It will wash out in 24 washes anyways- although my grey comes through LONG before that.

Esalon - you upload pics and choose from a colour chart online and they blend a colour for you. You can also chat to a colourist

Hm. Only supermarkets are allowed to open now. I suppose some of the massive ones sell hair dye.
I've done it myself a few times. It's harder to get an even consistent colour I find. However, many people do it successfully like this.
You'll probably have to sacrifice a few towels and if you use red your bathroom might look like you've killed someone.

I've managed to get a boxed one from Asda yesterday with my shopping :-) goodness knows how it will end up but I'm going to give it a shot! I'm stuck here for at least a month anyway 🤷🏻‍♀️

I've gone for a reddy brown as I have blonde highlights atm and I was told this is the best way to ensure they won't go green 😳🤞

I'm in similar position, wanting to cover my white hairs, previously used box dye came out way too dark, not sure what brand was now.. Any help regarding shades/brand to use woukd be great... I'm dark brown naturally, but i would like a more warm toned brown if possible...anyone tried john frieda foam?
Otherwise ill just leave it & wait.. I pluck my white hairs out (know i shouldnt) but i suffer anxiety and ocd which makes it very hard to stop..its worse during stressful times (like now).
Any help appreciated.

I've ordered a magic spray route touch up and a L'Oreal age perfect toner, we need to compare notes of how we get on!

It is OkK but remember about allergic reactions with skin conditions, like eczema and psoriasis, should also refrain from using hair dyes to color their hair. In milder cases, permanent dyes can cause itching, skin irritation, redness, or swelling on your scalp or other sensitive areas like your face and neck.
