Were they any good? Did you repurchase?

Sarah Chapman face sérum (£60 odd). It's fine. Feels nice. Can't tell anything other than that tbh

ClientQueen · 23/03/2020 12:16

£80 on the verso eye serum. Has actually got rid of a line under my eye
£70 on murad revitalixir recovery serum. Too early to tell

LaurieFairyCake · 23/03/2020 12:18

When Creme de la Mer came out 20 years ago I bought a pot - it wasn't the crazy price it is now

I loved it

lborgia · 23/03/2020 12:24

Bioeffect serum - the Icelandic one. Reckless airplane purchase, but astonishingly effective. Tbh, I should've just kept buying it, given how much I've spent since trying to find the HG Hmm. Currently about $125

JenNtonic · 23/03/2020 12:25

Yup Creme de la mer here too. Was just ok xx

Theseptemberissues · 23/03/2020 13:50

I know it gives very mixed reviews on here but Charlotte tilbury magic cream £75. My skin loves it

ElaineMarieBenes · 23/03/2020 16:01

I buy Sisley eye cream occasionally - I do love it. However although nice, their black rose face oil is seriously over priced and you find find equivalent or better for a fraction of the price.

ElaineMarieBenes · 23/03/2020 16:02

Can find - not find find!

ilovemydogandMrObama · 23/03/2020 16:06

Elemis Cleansing balm - got a tub for Christmas. Love it.

Terralee · 23/03/2020 16:07

Clinique Smart Repair serum - very nice

Terralee · 23/03/2020 16:08

Good & I do buy it if I have the money

ElaineMarieBenes · 23/03/2020 16:09

@lborgia - now I so want to try that stuff!

PrincessHoneysuckle · 23/03/2020 16:13

Botox £180 for forehead and inbetweeners eyebrows.Repeat every 4 months.

SecretWitch · 23/03/2020 16:13

Drunk Elephant Protini. My skin loves it and I have received compliments from other people about my great complexion.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 23/03/2020 16:13

in between not inbetweeners

TheFlis12345 · 23/03/2020 16:16

£45 on Clarins Multi Active Night Cream. It was no better than the £4 Aldi version I had been using previously.

Homeschool101 · 23/03/2020 16:17

Caudalie Premier Cru night cream, £80.

It's a good cream for very dry skin and feels nice but appears to have actually done diddly squat for the overall condition of my skin etc.
And if I use it when on my period (oily-er time of the month) it's just too much.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 23/03/2020 19:41

Chanel Hydramax moisturiser. At the time about £35 but swooped close to £40 quite quickly. I treated myself after using a sample in a magazine. Wonderful! They don't make the same one any more.

lborgia · 23/03/2020 20:06

@ElaineMarieBenes - me too. After I'd posted I thought I'd spend the rest of the year using up what I've got, clear the decks, and then just buy a bottle of bio effect, and sunscreen, and see how that goes. Also gives me time to saveHmm

QueenOfWinterfell · 23/03/2020 22:13

Creme de la mer. Nice but not £150 nice.

RosieSunset · 24/03/2020 04:57

Dr Alkaitis Ageless Facial Elixir £164. Am on my third bottle. It is worth it from a results point of view, it’s really helped my skin. DH calls it “the stuff that makes your skin glow”.

Also used nightly a bottle lasts a year. Have always managed to buy it on a 20% all products deal online so £132. So that makes it £11 a month. It’s definitely a luxury but there’s lots of seemingly cheaper things that work out more expensive in the long run.

I did buy a couple of good size samples (that lasted about a week) before taking the plunge though.

MaltbyMaeve · 24/03/2020 05:11

Sisley face oil. It’s terrible on my skin - makes it dry sensitive and spotty. I should just throw it away but I can’t bear to it was so expensive.

botemp · 24/03/2020 07:41

Most expensive is probably prescription tretinoin as I see a dermatologist but my insurance pays for that (I'm not in the UK) so not sure how much it actually costs and I see the dermatologist for other issues primarily. I'm guessing it runs into the several hundreds and the cream itself is around €20.

OTC most expensive was probably medik8 r-retinoate, €169 iirc and it is a really great product if you're in that same rare group of people like me who can't tolerate the conversion process of traditional retinol very well but has no issue with the active ingredient itself.

I've also tried Skinceuticals CE ferulic (€134 IIRC), worth the hype in my experience but not the money when there's so many copycat versions out there, Timeless is my preferred one at a fraction of the price.

I also tried Vintners Daughter Active Botanical serum (I had a deluxe sample), it's also stupidly expensive, £175, and that would be a waste of money IME it's just a very nice pampering product that feels amazing to use with very good marketing. You sort of look a bit brighter in the morning but nothing that justifies the price tag and all those essential oils aren't really good for skin anyhow...

Other products on this thread I've used, Bioeffect does seem to do something and it works quicker than any other serum I've ever tried but I was relatively young when I tried it (mid to late twenties) and I think the full potential was a bit lost on me. I've been a user of the Verso eye serum for 5 years pushed Client into buying it and absolutely swear by it. I've never paid more than €60 for it though, and it's twice the size of a normal eye product so actually doesn't work out to bad as it lasts really long (well over a year).

NarniaBanarnia · 24/03/2020 08:51

I buy Sunday Riley Tidal £60 per pot. It's incredible. I was totally anti expensive moisturisers until this; I used to spend more on serums and use a cheap moisturiser.

It's negated need for any make-up (even tinted moisturiser) as it leaves my skin so even and glowing - so I save money that way Grin

If I could justify it I would buy DCL's Vitamin C treatment/serum jobbie, but it's just over £100 and I can never justify that even on the rare occasion when I feel I can afford it! I had a large sample a few months back and people were suddenly asking me what I was using or if I'd been away - I honestly looked about 3-5 years younger almost overnight witout changing anything else.

NarniaBanarnia · 24/03/2020 08:53

ElaineBenes - I had a sample of the Sisley Black Rose oil too and it's definitely not for me - breaks me out every time I try it. And the price! I could hardly believe it when I looked online.

Oh my biggest waste of lots of £££ was Hourglass Ambient Light Palette. It was I think £70? And I've used it maybe 3 times in a year and hated how it looked every time. I know it divides people on here. Not one for me.
