Returns periods for online orders at the moment

I have an order on its way to my office - it was ordered a while ago but has taken a long while. Since yesterday I've been working from home. If it arrives today I could possibly travel into central London to get it. I ordered a couple of things in two sizes so there will definitely be returns. With this retailer returns have to be made within 21 days. If I can't travel to get it, then do I just have to 'suck it up'? I've emailed customer services but not had a reply.

No one can answer this. Despite being deluged with discount emails from retailers desperate to get our cash before job cuts and lockdowns I haven't seen any change their return policy. Possibly after an official lockdown and enough feedback they may offer something similar to the Xmas period?

Think laterally for now - Is there anyone at the office who can forward it on to your home address, even take it home and do it for you? Yes you'll have to pay postage and ask someone a favour but it won't be anywhere near the cost of the clothes you can't return. Alternatively if ask the office to refuse delivery, the courier is obliged to return it to sender, and you could start again from home?

H&M have increased their return period to 100 days ...

No one I could really ask to do returns so I'll have to either go and get it or just eBay what I don't want.

Cos have increased theirs from 14 days to 40. Part of the H&M group to of course.

Debenhams 60 days

The current legal position is that you have up to 14 days from the day you receive your goods to inform the retailer you want to cancel, then a further 14 days to return the items.

So that’s the statutory amount of time. Anything longer is a goodwill gesture provided by the company, which no one here can really speculate on

If it hasn’t been delivered yet, call the retailer and ask them to tell their courier to return the parcel to sender. You can then reorder it to your home if you want:
