How to minimise scarring-superficial burn

I scalded my hand around a week ago, followed medical advice to keep it clean and dry and leave it alone. It's now scaly, peeling and crispy and fairly large so looks awful with some bits deeper than others. Skin underneath is quite pink and tender, can I put anything on it to stop any scarring?

My DD1 had a really bad burn from a hot drink last year and I rubbed Bio Oil into it morning and night in a circular motion for six weeks. It has completely disappeared with no scar. At the time there was even talk of possibly needing a plastic surgeon.

That sounds promising. I don't have bio oil so I'll need to pick some up. I'm going to raid my stash to see if I have anything else I could use meantime.

Sudocrem is also really effective while the burn is first healing

I don't have that either....in fact other than facial skincare I'm not very well stocked at all.

If you are prone to bad scarring, use ScarAway Professional plasters, which I buy on Amazon. I have found they make a huge difference -- I get permanent scars from mosquito bites. You can buy liquid Scar Serum at Boots and online but of course itrubs off. I cut these plasters to size and cover with a normal plaster and change every two days or so.

Emu oil is great for burns

On a slightly different note, if you already have an established scar is there anything you can do to minimise the look of it? Would bio oil work do you think?

I burned my arm on the oven door a while ago. Put neat lavender oil onto it, and continued to do so for a week or so. I have no obvious scar from the burn.

I've got a range cooker, and am always burning my arms when using the lower shelves. When I had to go into A & E last year, two doctors asked me if I was self-harming Blush. I've been using Bio Oil, and it's helped a little but the scars are still very visible. Following this with interest.

@Standandwait I have really fair skin and I am prone to scarring from the smallest mark.
I'll have to order some and give them a try.

It's particular scabby and dry looking today-it really looks vile. I'm sitting rubbing facial oil into it until I can get to the shops.
