Sore patch of acne on face

I have had this sore red patch of spots on my face by one side of my nose for a few weeks now and it doesn't show any signs of going away. I never normally get acne; maybe the odd spot and that's it so I'm not sure if it was a reaction to something. It is sore, red and flaky. Does anyone know of anything that might help it heal?

Could it be perioral dermatitis??

Ah interesting; it does match my symptoms. Will have a look at the NHS guidance.

find a good in website and show it to GP. I had last year 4 trips to the GP. Noone knew about it. They just wanted to give me steroid/cortisone cream (I gave it a shot) which must not be used on PD.

I got it sorted in the end after convincing a locum I had PD and prescribing me a cream called Rozex (it's a antibiotic cream). it's apparently something GPs doesn't know very well. .

I suffered with it for ages last year not knowing what it was. I've had 2 courses of antibiotics and its currently in abeyance, long may that last....

Is it a collection of tiny itchy whiteheads which appear quickly? Underlying skin is very red? Tingly like a cold sore?

If so then it'd likely to be perioral dermatitis. Do NOT let the GP prescribe steroids as this may make it appear to cure it but it won't. It makes it worse.i first got this when I was pregnant. I believe it is exacerbated by hormones. Suffered for years untili was eventually referred to a consultant (and had done some googling myself). It tended to crop up once a year or so.. A two month course of Lymecycline is the best treatment.

I last had a tiny patch about 4 years ago so hopefully I'm done (touch wood).
