The VERY start of smokers lines (pics)

I have begun to see the shadow, the merest glimpse of smokers lines in the odd photo but it’s become more noticeable in recent weeks.

The first photo actually looks like somebody has drawn a line on my face! It was shadow of an emerging baby wrinkle and it’s so long!

Just wondering what I can do to offset these horrors.

I am assuming that THE only method is a dedication to retinol?

Some people just get them OP, even with the best of SPF, skincare and not smoking. Does your mum or dad have them?
Make sure you continue to daily SPF yourself. Use a retinol at night.

They are very hard to fill, technically. Awkward lines to reach with the nose in the way etc and the lines are v superficial so you need a thin filler, and you don't want an odd looking upper lip either. A combination of filler maybe, laser maybe, Botox maybe.

Tbh, as PPs have said, they are very mild indeed. At 47, I think you've done v well!

HeyAreYouOK · 09/03/2020 09:33

I am 47 and have tons of lines. You'd all have a field day critiquing my face and telling me what products to buy and what surgery to get. It's ok to age! You will drive yourself crazy if you are obsessed with erasing every effect of getting older. Enjoy your life and forget about little lines on your face.

OwnedBy2Cats · 09/03/2020 10:38

Hear hear @HeyAreYouOK. I don’t blame the OP for asking (after all there are no stupid questions) but some of the replies are Hmm. It’s a natural biological process, not a character flaw.

RuggyPeg · 09/03/2020 11:11

Some of the replies are not 🙄 at all. No one has said the op is doomed and how dare she age. She's asked for a solution to something that's bothering here and suggestions have been put forward. Of course she should enjoy her life, stop fretting, stop obsessing over every line yada yada yada but it's S&B.......she wants cosmetic/skincare input.

Twixes · 09/03/2020 11:20

I'm 38 and am starting to get them! I've read v v small dose of Botox works well. Filler can oddly puff out your upper lip and your lines are not deep enough for filler. I'm going to try Botox in June.

Also to add I've never smoked either!

nannymags · 09/03/2020 12:03

I would look into Medi-spa treatments.... lasers peels etc. Maybe Profhilo or similar

Floisme · 09/03/2020 12:12

The op is getting older, nothing more and nothing less. There are many symptoms, although you'd be forgiven for thinking otherwise as the skincare industry focuses on wrinkles, this being the low hanging fruit that brings in the money. The truth is that, even if you escape or fix the lines, you will still look older because your muscle tone and the elasticity of your skin will go, taking with it your jawline, your neck, your hands, your arms. And then, just as you've managed to reconcile yourself with that little lot, your hair will start thinning.

That's not to say it isn't disconcerting but it's delusional to think you can do any more than faff and fiddle at the edges. My recommendation is to save your money and spend it on nice clothes, or whatever it is that gives you pleasure: much more fun.

AxisOfDick · 09/03/2020 12:44

There is nothing remotely wrong with trying to look my best.

I just want some cosmetic input as @Ruddypeg puts it.

Have the money and time to fix a problem. So thats what I want to do. Am in good nick otherwise, drink only water, exercise etc etc.

I don't need counselling or moral or philosophical guidance!

Also can i just point out that even on S&B it takes some guts to stick up a photo, so I am obviously serious.

I’d start incorporating Tretinoin in your routine. It’ll help with fine lines ( which yours is Wink) and collagen production!

Bellehare099 · 09/03/2020 13:22

You have pretty lips, OP.

troppibambini · 09/03/2020 19:26

You can have Botox in this area but only if you go to someone that really knows what they are doing the dermatologist I see offers it.
My friend had it done and it looks really good.

zippyswife · 09/03/2020 20:31

OP you have a lovely face (the bit I can see) and skin. I can’t see any lines or thread veins Hmm.

StCharlotte · 09/03/2020 23:08

I'm wrinkly. Mine is from years of smoking snogging Wink

Joking apart, one of my "smoker's lines" is actually a scar from a deep cat scratch decades ago.

kerkyra · 25/02/2021 13:46

I'd love to know what I can do about the wrinkles above my top lip.
At least these days I can hide them with a mask or scarf
