One foundation for all

I have got tons of fixations I've bought that aren't quite right (mainly they are too heavy or pink toned, I really really need yellow tones).

Am going to pack up and get rid of all the wrong stuff but need a foundation that:

Had medium coverage
Dewy
Good range of yellow tones
Wears well but is not long wear type as am allergic to whatever gives it starying power (also allergic to Rimmel Wake me Up and YSL Teint Eclat, clearly the shimmer type effect is irritating).

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I've just bought Mac water weight. I struggle to get the right colour too as have yellow undertones. I got a sample first. It's dewy but with good medium/build able coverage. Lovely for spring/summer

Have you tried the new hydra luminous from no 7 at boots. I have been very surprised at it and in my second tube! Annoyingly not in a pump.

Boots No 7 Hydra Luminous. I bought some recently after it was recommended on a thread here. There are lots of shades and it goes a long way. I need yellow rather pink toned and have found it a great match. It's medium coverage and has a slight glow to it. Buy it when there's a voucher offer on - I paid £10 instead of the usual price of £15.

Other than that, I find Clarins foundations are more yellow toned.

Oh - x post with blazer!

Thank you. I do have a hydra luminous and whilst it is lovely I’ve been matched to five different shades at no7 and none of them are right so I’d given up. I’ll see If I can get a sample to take home and try.

Thank you

Have you tried Chanel vital luminaire - I think that's the name - tried it a few years ago and was too yellow for me. Lots of the new high street brands like revolution have a huge range it's just a pain having to test them in the shop. Good luck with the search for the holy grail. I'm still mourning the loss of prescriptive

I picked the shade closest to a CC cream I'd been using. The assistant was with another customer and I couldn't be bothered to hang around.

Have you considered you might be a neutral rather than needing a yellow tone? There's been a trend to over correct with foundations in the past 5 years or so. A lot of people who were told they " needed" yellow tones actually need a greyish neutral.

If that's not the case then Bobbi Brown or ex1 cosmetics are your friend.

LefttoherownDevizes · 07/03/2020 20:37

Thanks but I definitely do need yellow. I have really weird colouring, grey eyes, ash hair and golden olive skin. Everyone always tries to put me in pink cos of my eyes but I just look ruddy and ill, Ineed the yellow to lift the sallow and neutralise the red.

I’ll check out Bobbi Brown

I bought the hydrolumunious in beige but someone said it looks a bit dark on me, I usually have cool ivory but it seems paler in that foundation. Have you tried Clinique, they do good foundations too?

GreyishDays · 07/03/2020 21:31

I agree with Bobbi Brown being the best for yellow tones. Smile
