Not sure where to post this but what did your OH get you for your 40th?

My parents bought me a trip to Iceland (top of my bucket list) - it was amazing!
My sister bought me beautiful jewellery.
I paid for a ridiculously expensive party but its the first one Ive ever had as an adult and I loved it.
My OH bought me a book, personalised, about how much he loves me. Sweet and unexpected and not to sound like a greedy bitch but I had hinted at jewellery!

But he made up for it this year and has got me a trip to Istanbul (second on my bucket list!)

moleeye · 07/03/2020 05:31

Mine was in jan, hubby got me:

Chanel sunglasses
Prada bag
Gucci bag
Tickets to a music festival
Specialist mat for my back (ongoing issues)
Booked a lovely meal at my fav local restaurant with my family

Other presents received
YSL bag
Diamond earrings
Huda makeup
Pandora jewellery
Spa weekend for two away

I felt incredibly honoured and overwhelmed!

It's his next year and he doesn't want a party so I need to get my thinking cap on...

SpeckledyHen · 07/03/2020 06:58

I had my first baby 👶 for my 40th birthday.

LilyJade · 07/03/2020 10:39

Oh wow @SpeckledyHen that's amazing!

BeaLola · 07/03/2020 11:07

My DH bought me sapphire earrings for my 40th - total surprise

My DF and brother bought me jewellery

For my 50th DH bought me a Tag Heuer watch - my choice

DF and DB bought me diamond hoops - chosen by me and spent the day with my brother having lunch , buying earrings and cocktails afterwards / was very memorable

My DS 9 at time bought me Links Of London jewellery - necklace and bracelet

GingerBeverage · 07/03/2020 13:12

That's a great present SpeckledyHen!

Loving all these responses, thank you. And the personalised book is so thoughtful Angbunnyboo.

Mine is in May. OH is buying me a flotation tank voucher, I think. I'm doing C25K currently so am thinking if asking for some special headphones for running. Not having a big party as that's not my thing but will probably go for a meal somewhere. Have other friends turning 40 too and I know some are having surprise parties etc but we'll do stuff too, a meal or a spa day. I'm happy with my lot, I don't like a fuss.

GingerBeverage · 07/03/2020 19:28

Lotusbel - low key is great too. Floatation tank sounds very peaceful.

A trip to NYC.

Sooverthemill · 07/03/2020 21:55

It was a long time ago! But he bought excellent seats to a National Theatre production of my favourite play with a stunning cast. And we still talk about how good it was. It was probably the best present he has bought me with no help or hints from me whatsoever so it meant a great deal.

Sooverthemill · 07/03/2020 21:57

@SpeckledyHen aww! I went into labour with our only baby on my 41st birthday, born 3 days later!

GingerBeverage · 08/03/2020 08:53

Sooverthemill - I life hearing what people have asked for, and what's been a surprise.
My OH is very very bad at non-directed presents.

Mine’s in a couple of weeks and I have been told to keep the whole weekend free. I hope we’re going to centre parcs after reading these.

Oh no

Terralee · 30/03/2020 10:15

One of the independent jewellers are selling online & delivering near me. It may be the case where you live too?

GingerBeverage · 30/03/2020 14:15

Terralee - I was hoping for something a bit more personal, that I'd seen IRL or mentioned perhaps. It doesn't look likely but you never know. I'm adjusting my expectations to aim for a card now. Smile
Still, it's been good reading everyone else's presents. Quite a wide range of things!
