Tear trough fillers - has anyone had them?

anunseemlylovefordustin · 05/03/2020 23:06

I'm looking into having this done, but wondering whether anyone has had it and whether they've had any good/bad experiences? It seems relatively subtle and risk free (well, almost) and the doctor I've spoken to about it says I'm a good candidate and would only need 0.5 ml under each eye, and could use a canula as it's only on the inner half of my under eye. But I've never had any kind of filler before, so I'm quite cautious.

Any insights gratefully welcomed!

I'm just so tired of looking absolutely shattered all the time, even when I'm not!

I have them, usually once a year, and have done for quite a few years now. It makes such a difference to how I look. The procedure is slightly uncomfortable but not painful and over quickly. Minimal or no bruising. The effects are immediate.

Thank you! It's so hard to find people who've actually had it done. Do you find it makes you look less tired?

Is it just for bags or can it work for shadows as well. I'm desperate with my dark shadows.

anunseemlylovefordustin · 07/03/2020 12:45

I don't think it works for bags? I have very dark shadows under my eyes which look a bit 'sunken' and I was looking for solutions (as always) and stumbled across this procedure. I'm going for a consult in April, so I can report back if you like :)

Yes, please. I've had bad shadows all my life. Never really been into tweakments, but I'm getting quite desperate about these shadows. I know you have to be careful around your eyes though.

AgathaX · 11/03/2020 15:28

Sorry for not replying sooner. It works well for some types of bags. I'm not entirely sure how, but my eyes have the appearance of bags and dark shadows without but with they are vastly reduced. You need a really good practitioner to give specific advice, but I'd definitely see someone for advice about bags as well as shadows.

Yes, it makes me look so much less tired. The change is actually amazing. Subtle enough so that people don't appear to know, but I generally get told how well I look when I get them refreshed.

I’m curious about this too

I feel about squeamish about it and not interested in any other procedures but have quite dark circles and I’m at that point where concealer accentuates fine lines under my eyes

HelloAgainYou · 11/03/2020 23:02

I want to know too. I desperately want to try but I'm genuinely nervous

anunseemlylovefordustin · 12/03/2020 07:30

I think we're all in the same boat! I'm really not interested in any other kind of 'work' or fillers - but I would love to stop looking like I haven't slept for a month :) I will definitely report back after my consultation in April.

Yes please do OP!

Following with interest! Smile

I’ve had them and it absolutely was a total game changer for me.

I’ve always had hollow under eyes but they were just getting worse and worse to the extent it really made me self conscious and paranoid.

I did a LOT of research and went with a Dr in Birmingham who is an NHS eye consultant and specialist eye plastic surgeon who also does cosmetic surgery & tear trough fillers on the side. Pricey but there was absolutely no way I’d want anyone not “extremely” qualified in the eye department doing it.

I actually just had it once March 2018 - went back for top up last March (not because I thought I needed it but because I thought I should but the price included 2 sessions but initially I only needed one so was worried about losing the 2nd session) and he said that I didn’t need it as sometimes with filler your natural fat can bind to it and then when the filler dissolves it can leave you with a ‘natural’ fat pad which essentially corrects the problem. Luckily that is what happened to me ShockGrin

But I still have the second session banked if/when I need it (just hope the Dr is still practicing by then!)

The end results are just amazing - really natural and no one noticed except the “are you okay/tired?” questions immediately stopped and personally I feel SO much happier and confident.

So I recommend this procedure Smile But please be really careful with who you go to - do a lot of research as there are horror stories out there!

Sounds amazing @RizzoFromGrease

I am going to look into it more

happymummy12345 · 14/03/2020 19:44

My eyes are literally black underneath. So much so people think it's black eye makeup. I was thinking of looking into it, but wasn't sure about it.

GinnyWeasleysQuiff · 14/03/2020 20:19

I've had various filler treatments and can quite honestly say this was the least painful out of all of them. I only had a small amount and the results were very good

mnthrowaway202020 · 14/03/2020 20:38

@RizzoFromGrease where did you go?

Mummyy07 · 14/03/2020 21:31

I'm also interested in this but would need to do my homework. Never had any sort of fillers and wonder how safe it is having something injected in your face but it clearly is when so many people get it done, I'm just a bit paranoid. I'm also pregnant at the moment so not sure when it will be safe after I have the baby.

Sugarfreejelly · 14/03/2020 21:44

I’ve had them. I have VERY deep and obvious tear troughs and a lot of dark pigmentation (I’m Asian). My eyes look so much better since I’ve had the treatment. It doesn’t completely hide the pigmentation but it’s definitely a bit better. My tear troughs are also much better. Probably not as good as in many of the before and after a you see but my eyes are particularly bad. I definitely look a loss less tired.
Only go to a doctor who specialises full time in aesthetics, not a doctor or dentist who does this on the side, as there is a huge amount of skill involved.

Regain4men · 16/03/2020 07:19

How much have you all paid please? Is the geberal rule that it lasts one year?

Regain4men · 16/03/2020 07:19

Haha geNeral rule

BunnytheBee · 16/03/2020 08:38

I read that it last 6-9 months which doesn’t seem very long and makes me wonder whether I have the commitment

Sugarfreejelly · 16/03/2020 11:10

My doctor said it lasts 12-18 months usually. My friend had hers 12 months ago and they still look fab.

I paid £400 for mine.
