Shaving my foo foo

Sansastark45 · 05/03/2020 20:47

What does everyone else do !! I recall a few years ago covering it in hair removal cream! The front was fine but jeeze it burnt my lips.!!! Shaving just aggravates me and the following few days it itches like mad !!!! It looks wild down there :(

I use my non existent hairdressing skills with a nail scissors and trim it that way. Years ago I snipped myself, now that hurt.

Littleshortcake · 06/03/2020 07:07

You should wear a small thong while using veet. Then the cream will only do a tidy up job rather than all of your 'foo foo'

It is less hygienic than having pubic hair but if you want to remove it for other reasons, I find waxing or sugaring gives the best finish and lasts longer. I get it done at a beauty salon though - not brave enough to do it to myself. I sometimes use my epilator a few weeks after waxing to keep the hairs minimal. Shaving is rubbish for your partner if you like oral sex (stubbly).

StarlightLady · 06/03/2020 07:48

Over the years (and l haven’t had hair for many years), l have varied between waxing and shaving. Waxing gives a smoother finish but you have to allow for the regrowth period, which l don’t like. Shaving can be done in the shower every morning.

To those who criticise those who choose to remove hair, do you remove your underarm or leg hair? Do you associate with a male who shaves his face?

Millettmum · 06/03/2020 08:12

I have problems with shaving my bikini area as well, I get such a rash and so itchy! I'm just not brave enough for waxing and cream is such a faff I find. Just wish I didn't get the rash.

Rosalo · 06/03/2020 08:25

When I've had mine waxed I find the pee goes everywhere, no idea why? Anyone know what I'm talking about? Blush

itsallthedramaMickiloveit · 06/03/2020 09:15

Why are people telling you not to do it? I trim the hairs down as much as I can first, then shave with a brand new razor

Where else are they going to feed their superiority complex at this time in the morning? Making someone else feel bad is better for them than a full English.

I've got one of those bamboo reusable blades that use a real razor blade. At first I was terrified. But with precision and time it's been brilliant.
I am thinking of waxing the back though.

I just use some frothy body wash. I've never had itchy bumps or anything.

doadeer · 06/03/2020 09:19

Would only ever wax. If I shave it feels stubbly after like 2 days and it's sharp and itchy. Waxing lasts a month for me and grows back softer. I don't find it very painful using hot wax

itsallthedramaMickiloveit · 06/03/2020 09:22

I've never waxed. Used creams and shaving.
I haven't had the courage.

Is it really that good?

GetawayfromthatWelshtart · 06/03/2020 09:28

I shave the sides of my lady garden waits for someone to be triggered by me calling it that so my pubes don't get caught in my knicker elastic because the bastards are like someone has taken a bloody mini hair straightener to them.

Well when I say shave I mean taking a wild stab in the dark cos I haven't seen my minky for a long time cos I'm a fat bird.

Oh and you can call your private parts what the hell you like Grin

WoofAndWhiskers · 06/03/2020 09:28

Waxing is far far far better for smoothness, yes.

TiddlestheCat · 06/03/2020 09:32

I use hedge clippers and then tidy the edges up with pinking shears (for a slightly 80s on trend feathered look).

TiddlestheCat · 06/03/2020 09:35

The quickest way, however, is to lean forward, brush it into a pony tail and then do one quick chop. Jobs done!

itsallthedramaMickiloveit · 06/03/2020 09:35

What about pain?
I'm thinking down there entire vajajay is pretty numb from 3 x 9lb babies.

But if it's not. I don't want to cause it any undue trauma. It's been good to me.

Nikhedonia · 06/03/2020 12:08
  • Because some people on Mumsnet think that if you dare to exercise your own personal choice in this matter, A) You’re selling out the sistsahood and decades of feminism B) You’re a product of the pornification of society C) Your partner has paedophilic tendancies*

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Elllllle · 06/03/2020 13:36

The posters saying they don't wax/shave whatever aren't being patronising, I don't think, just offering it as an alternative as many women these days feel like they have to remove hair to be attractive.

Also "foo foo" is fucking ridiculous, c'mon.

I wax with hot wax - at home or in salon as an extended bikini wax. Shaving gives me itchy regrowth. Removal cream burns like hell. HTH.

doadeer · 06/03/2020 13:50

Waxing is brilliant it feels so lovely after so soft.

StarlightLady · 07/03/2020 08:59

@user1480880826 - Every woman should have a hand mirror where she can give herself a regular quick (visual) check and inspection for their own health benefits.

You won’t find a woman in France who has not got one. Sadly, a lot of UK women are less libertine. But it is important.

user1480880826 · 07/03/2020 11:27

That may be true but the lumea is quite bulky to manoeuvre. You also need a hand to pull the skin tight, no? Maybe I’m just not flexible enough. I will have to continue to let mine grow wild.

dontgobaconmyheart · 07/03/2020 11:48

Libertine to look at your vulva? Crikey. People really are not regularly looking? How do you shave properly Confused.

No specofic advice OP because I wouldnt do anything if I had to then suffer itching etc, and would query why I felt it was ok to suffer for something aesthetic, presumably for one other persons benefit (not mine). It's not like the hair on your head where everyone sees it and the goal is to look generally nice and socially acceptable.

I stopped years ago and just trim it short with an electric shaver, looks nice, feels clean, no stubble or itching and no ingrown hairs. Life changing! I only do it when I can be bothered, though I do prefer it shorter.

madcatladyforever · 07/03/2020 11:52

I prefer no hair, it's much more comfortable, I don't have relationships so not doing it for anyone but me but how the hell does anyone shave that, there are so many bits, there must be an easy way surely.
I can't face going to have it waxed.

madcatladyforever · 07/03/2020 11:56

Ah beard trimmer mmm might give that a go.

Muminabun · 07/03/2020 13:27

I don’t like a big hairy foof either it’s a comfort thing. I trim it with clippers and then shave with thick hair conditioner and a Mac 3 when it is fairly short. If it gets itchy just use body oil or an oil based moisturiser or sudocreme for a couple of days.
