La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo - Dry and flaky skin

Have started on LRP Effaclar Duo a week ago. Only use it on my chin/around mouth area to treat spots. It definitely helps with the spots (yay!!!) but I find it leaves my skin very dry, almost peeling/flaking a bit, and there is some redness too. The dryness could also be the weather I guess.

Do I stick with it? Is this a normal reaction? I prefer the dryness to the spots, but still...

If it’s relevant, I apply it twice a day (morning and night) after washing my face with warm water. In the day I also moisturise with Nivea and use Garnier B.B. cream.

Keen to hear about other people’s experiences with LRP!:-)

Effaklar pushed me into a cycle of over drying then over moisturizing and never truly sorted the spots. I moved to Paula's Choice range for combination skin and that sorted out both problems. They have a range for older yet still spotty skin.

Effaclar is really quite harsh. I bought some for DS in his teenage spotty phase and his skin became so dry he stopped using it, but it did clear the zits. Something a bit milder perhaps, with the Effaclar reserved for treating breakouts?

Thanks guys, I might just save the effaclar for break outs!

Once a day is plenty for Effaclar. You are just overdoing it.

But I did find Paula's Choice BHA was a better product.
