Can anyone recommend a good topical spot zapper? I’ve tried lots of drugstore varieties and the large red spot remains at large ...

I've got Clinique's anti blemish gel which is amazing, it was about £15 though but had lasted years!

I use a cream for piles, works every time, it takes the swelling down by morning.

Sudocrem

Those hydrocolloid patches are fab

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/03/2020 17:20

How long has it been there?.

Nogoodwithgoodbyes · 04/03/2020 18:03

It’s been there a week and nothing has worked. I haven’t heard of hydrocolloid patches ... I’ll check out the Clinique gel. Sudocrem doesn’t do much but I’ll lob some on. It’s large, red and angry!

A cream for piles? Whatever works, I guess!

If it’s lasted that long I’d see a gp, spots shouldn’t last a week. Your immune systems not dealing with it very well.

Richlyfruited · 04/03/2020 19:11

Gosh mine can last weeks and then scar for months!

The Neutrogena light pen works to bring down the swelling a bit if you use it several times a day.

Might try the piles cream if it works - is it any particular sort? Grin

Nogoodwithgoodbyes · 04/03/2020 19:22

I've tried Neutrogena and no joy. I find when I get spots they last about two weeks and then scar. They tend to be whoppers too. The GP prescribed antibiotics before for adult acne but I won't be going back down that road. That's basically all she could suggest - that and crazy strong creams that bleach fabric (imagine what they're doing to the skin!).

The Origins one in the little blue bottle is good!

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/03/2020 19:45

Your in for a long road if you don’t engage with the medical profession for acne.

If spots leave a red scar that in itself is a trigger for dermatology & roaccutane. I had mild persistent acne for years that doesn’t respond to topical or oral meds. I was offered accutane at 30 but wouldn’t take it due to horror stories in the press. Then it segued into cystic acne at 40 so I took accutane.

Still have a red scar on my cheek from 3 years ago though from cystic spot no 1 that is very slowly fading, probably because my skins middle aged now.

smileannie · 04/03/2020 22:10

Have you tried toothpaste? Used to help take the redness out of my acne.

Nogoodwithgoodbyes · 04/03/2020 22:49

Thanks. I did use a topical antibiotic for years prescribed by the GP but it dried the heck out of my skin and it’s still in recovery. My skin is better overall now acne-wise apart from the occasional whopper like this one!

Toothpaste does nowt for me.

I’ll try the Origins.
