Safe / non toxic fake tan?

Hi,

I've not long had a baby and am feeling pasty and would like to fake tan. With having a newborn & breastfeeding/co-sleeping I'm conscious of finding one that is safe for baby to be close to, does anyone have any recommendations?

Thank you!

I get your concern logically, and I mean this sincerely, and I get what it's like to feel precious about a newborn. But other than maybe not tanning your breasts right up to the nipple (do you really need to unless you're planning on going topless on holiday?), I think you're probably fixating on an unnecessary issue. All fake tans available in this country will be passed as safe to use, the same as creams, bubble baths, washing powder, clothes dyes, toys, plastic feeding spoons, bottle teats...and the millions of other things your baby and all of us come into contact with that can potentially be ingested. Are you worried about any of those other things?

Please don't get mislead by the word toxic. It's a dangerous word used often in the health and beauty industry to sell "detoxifying" products with no real proven benefit.

You can drink the active ingredients in fake tan.

If you use the 10 minute tan from Superdrug you can wash off in 10 minutes and wake up brown.

I’m in exactly the same position as you, Car1sberg! Desperate to feel more like the ‘normal’ me by being golden while donning the same old nursing tops everyday! Congratulations on your baby. Will be following this thread with interest (and hope!) x

There's Tan Organic. I don't wear self tan but I've read that this only contains natural ingredients.

JaneJeffer 'natural' does not equal 'safe'

Agree. See my pp. The poison is not in the ingredient it's in the dose. Cyanide and mercury are naturally produced, and I wouldn't willingly ingest either. Water can be fatal ingested in large quantities.

Thank you for the replies.

I guess I was thinking of the fake tan I used to use and how much it smelled, you know the typical smell? And how I didn't want the baby to be inhaling that smell.

She's my third so I'm not particularly precious either :)
