My skin is pretty tough, what strong stuff can I throw at it to fight wrinkles?

I've been using The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution which a lot of people seem to think is v strong, and and also Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% (not together!) which again a lot of people seem to have trouble with, both are absolutely fine on my skin.

I'm upping my Retinoid from The Ordinary from 2% to 5%, what other stronger stuff could I throw at my face? Main concern is wrinkles (I'm 40) Doesn't have to be TO, but if you also have tough skin, what can you recommend? TIA

I’d be interested to know too. I’ve just purchased the ordinary buffet with copper peptides. Not sure I buy into all the hype, but I’ve heard it’s good for wrinkles, I’m 39 next month and have some skincare concerns also.

I know lots of people recommend tretinoin (Retin A). but it’s prescription only in the uk, I get it over the counter from the pharmacies in Spain. I’m on 0.025% at the moment, and am feeling it!

If it's wrinkles you're worried about, would you consider Botox?

emsyj37 · 02/03/2020 14:28

You can get a private prescription for tretinoin through Dermatica. I've bought it from an online pharmacy overseas and it was easy enough and not expensive. Previously I was using Differin (adapalene) but thought it was time to break out the hard stuff now I'm 40.
I use The Ordinary Niacinamide too, and once a week the glycolic toner. My skin cant tolerate it any more often than that.

Not interested in Botox sandscript I know it's the best thing for wrinkles but I'm happy just doing what I can with skincare.

I wondered about a prescription strength retinol/tretinoin I'm not sure if I'm seeing much difference with TO one but I thought I'd keep upping the strength with what they have until I get to a place where I need to move on to a stronger/presctiption one. What differences have you noticed Sammi38 and emsyj37?

I would follow trinny Woodall in instagram for ideas. She is hardcore in her skincare and has super tough, non-sensitive skin. She is always trying new stuff on her lives and has lots of skin care q&a. Her bathroom storage is out of this world!

I have used Differin for years and found it great, with no irritation. I find tretinoin makes me peel quite a bit, so I've never used it very regularly but I'm trying to now. Not noticed any difference in results yet, I think that will take a while to be honest. I'm not really lined at the moment but my forehead is starting to decline so am hoping the tret will stave off the need for botox for a while as I'm not keen to go down that route.

I think I remember reading it can take a year to notice a difference with retinoids so that's one reason why I haven't felt the need to up it too much, I've only been using The Ordinary one for about 4 months.

Thanks for reminding me about Trinny, olivehater I'll watch back some of her videos, I love her. I'm probably not as consistent as I should be with everything. I bought a derma-roller due to Trinny's recs but rarely remember to use it!

Tretinoin, there is a Facebook group devoted to giving people advice!

I'm using the TO Retinoid and quite honestly, I don't think its has done anything.
