Anyone irritated by too much choice online?

So I’d like some new clothes for Spring.

I’ve just looked at the Next website and in the “New In” section for women there are 368 items in the section “Tops”. That’s after I’ve filtered by size.

I can’t be bothered to look through them. I know it’s not AIBU but am I unreasonable to think that some website lose business through trying to sell too much? I like choice but this amount is overwhelming, I can’t be the only one who just switches off.

I agree! I get bored scrolling through it all

MoltoAgitato · 29/02/2020 21:03

YES! I have just had the same problem. Trying to find a good midi dress and a cocktail dress and just can’t be arsed wading through pages and pages of crap. John Lewis is bad at this - the whole point of a department store is for someone else to do the filtering for you!

oohnicevase · 29/02/2020 21:08

Try selecting the brand you want ( ie next ) and then filter for the max price you want to spend then sort by low to high or vice versa and you will get a more accurate choice .

cinderellaaaa · 29/02/2020 21:11

Agreed. ASOS is the worst

LolaSmiles · 29/02/2020 21:14

Agreed.
ASOS has been getting worse as they keep adding in other shops' stock.
Why does ASOS also need to stock New Look and Boohoo? They're separate shops. Next have started doing it online too.its frustrating.

I quite it when shops have their target market and sell to it.

JhustJenny · 29/02/2020 21:18

Yes I waste hours scrolling

Between that and the reduced no of free returns now I’m going back to actual shops, which is probably the point!

MoltoAgitato · 29/02/2020 21:19

I also really hate it when they add random other shops’ stock. I’ve no idea if is any good nor do i care!

Ikeameatballs · 29/02/2020 21:38

It’s made me start to look more at online shops that I know have less choice eg hush.

But if anyone can find me a nice black casual jumpsuit cheaper than this www.hush-uk.com/new-in-1/lea-jumpsuit-soft-black.htm I’d be delighted!!

OMG I just said that last night!! Was looking for work clothes in Next and had to have a wine 🤪

ShellsandSand · 29/02/2020 21:53

Yes. Same just been on Next app and gave up after an hour. Lots of good stuff but it's just so overwhelming and over stimulating. It actually gives me anxiety.

zippyswife · 29/02/2020 21:53

@Ikeameatballs I love that too but £75 is way more than I’d spend. Though I’d probably get the wear- I bet I’d wear it a couple of times a week for half the year!

SunshineAvenue · 29/02/2020 22:29

Yes! It's exhausting. I feel, and have done for a few years now, utterly overwhelmed when going into a clothes shop, especially a large Zara. My brain seems to just shutdown and I feel lost

Deathraystare · 01/03/2020 08:37

Not so hard for me. I have to filter in size (18/20), my hatred of Viscose (they can say all they want about it being breathable it makes me sweat like a p.i.g. That and model and lyocell etc. Plus a lot of the tops and dresses are high necked. and miles too short for me!

I did surprise myself though by buying three ASOS curve dresses. They are usually very guilty of being so high necked it strangles you and so short you are showing next week's washing!

Oh and with a dodgy bladder I avoid jumpsuits!
