Redness, broken capillaries & general bad skin tone. Help!

I'm 37, I keep on top of moisturising and exfoliating my skin most of the time and I drink water but now I need something more.
I have redness and lots of broken veins. Especially on the bridge of my nose and cheekbones.
My mum suffers terribly with it and I really want to halt mine before they get to her level sorry mum

What are you doing that I need to do?

Could spend💰on it, potentially, what do you recommend?

Pic attached but not great 🙃

I've always had a problem with broken veins in my cheeks and have had them treated for years. Up until now I've had them cauterised with electrolysis but am now planning to have them lasered.

Thanks for the reply!

Which type of laser do I need to be looking for? I live rural so finding practitioners for certain things can be a pain!

And what treatment did you use before? Any good at reducing?

Fucck I feel your pain. I'm older than you and have had this problem for years but for some reason I'm focusing on it a lot more than I used to.
Mine is more at the sides of my nose, in the naso-labial lines and in between my eyebrows. It just looks red and blotchy in those areas.

I've recently had electrolyis (2 x 15 minute sessions) on the more noticeable red capillaries around my nose, and I think it's been somewhat successful, but I still have thousands of tiny broken capillaries so I still look red.

I want to try some sort of laser next, but am baffled by the options. Thinking of trying IPL first (technically not a laser I think?), but not convinced it'll work judging by reviews I've read. So, it'll need to be a 'proper' laser but no idea what or where to go for this.

I don't think skincare will make any difference to the redness, as the capillaries are already broken.

In the meantime the advice is to lay off alcohol and spices. However, I think life is too short to give up on pleasurable things! (I rarely drink but love spices!).

Watching with interest as I have this issue as well and am looking into treatment options.

I also have this problem and I am waiting with bated breath for any good suggestions! Wink

Bumping.

My face is horrendous with redness and veins. Nearly 40.

I've just received an IT CC make up order, was so keen to try it out. Had to wash it off after 10-15 mins as it was heating my skin up. Broken veins etc look 10 x worse now! Like looking at pepperoni!

BusterGonad · 03/03/2020 16:26

I always thought that exfoliating made it worse, as does too much hot water/cold water on your face. I cleanse with a cream and cotton pads, exfoliate maybe twice a month and mine aren't too bad. I try not to expose my face too stuff like steam etc.

BusterGonad · 03/03/2020 16:28

Also I do not wash my face, either cream cleanser or bioderma micellar water. Water really plays hovac with my skin and blood vessels.

Sally99 · 03/03/2020 16:37

Aqueous cream is good for washing as it is soothing and gentle to the skin - it is often recommended to people with eczema.

There are loads of laser skin clinics who offer treatment if you google them.

Not sure if anyone is interested but I went for treatment on my broken veins today. I researched and, while I could have picked cheaper options, I went for someone who specialised in broken veins. Expensive but worth it for peace of mind for me. He didn’t seem to think my case was bad but I was so very embarrassed by the redness on my nose and chin and I guess that is what is important, how I feel about myself.

Treatment was like having a hot needle briefly but repeatedly poked into your skin. In some areas it made my eyes water where it is more tender like the side of my nose, but even where it felt uncomfortable I just kept my mind on how much I was desperate to get rid of the redness and veins. It took under 10 minutes for the treatment. Area is red and being treated with Aloe Vera and felt a bit like having the remnants of hot sauce on my skin for the first hour or so afterwards but now that sensation is gone. This evening it is still red so I can’t fully see the effects but some of the veins on the side of my nose I wanted gone are now definitely gone.

CeraVe hydrating wash and CeraVe cream in a tube not the tub one. Once a week I exfoliate with TBS Drops of light liquid peel (it's very gentle)

Practically cured my rosacea/sensitive/dry skin.

Thanks Katherine , that is useful!
