Best micellar water for sensitive skin?

My skin is going crazy at the moment...its been dry and eczema prone all my life but now has decided to be spotty (in my 40s, having never had spots before. Great).

I've been prescribed Nizoral cream which helps but my usual cleansing balm seems to be aggravating the spots. A foaming cleanser or one requiring washing off with water (or any kind of toner) aggravates my eczema though.

Am thinking a super simple, non perfumed, wipe off miceller water might be better - any recs?
Can't decide between Simple, Garnier, Bioderma, La Roche Posay, Avene etc....all sell themselves as for sensitive skin.

Help appreciated from fellow sensitive skin sufferers...

I I have the same issue of very sensitive skin and use La Roche Posay Micellar water I find it very effective and no need to rub the skin which can cause more irritation

Thanks - do you need to wipe it off with water or just dry cotton wool?

I put some on a cotton pad and wipe over my face. Just like using a toner

This always recommended,

I use Bioderma Sensitive and it's always been fine.

Eucerin

Regardless of what brand of Micellar water you will choose, in case you weren’t aware, please always remember to rinse your skin afterwards. Micellar water is drying to the skin.
I don’t use it but I can understand the attraction for the speed and thorough job it’s meant to do.
If I was to use one though, I’d go with the original, Bioderma for sensitive skin. Their suncream is the only one that doesn’t sting my eyes so they are doing something right.

I wipe make up off with coconut oil and a flannel in hot water.

I use bioderma sensitive. The normal one was fine too.

The worst is garnier (pink lid) it is the most drying thing ive ever used xx

It sounds a bit like your skin barrier might be damaged. I have dry acne prone skin and things like micellar waters tend to make my skin worse not necessarily because of the product, I don't think but the rubbing involved with cotton wool or cloths etc. I've been using CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser and it's been a total game changer for me (it's creamy and non foaming). Apologies because this wasn't actually what you asked for though, which is usually a MN pet hate of mine!

Thanks all - by complete coincidence the two I'm going to buy are the Eucerin one (as I already use their moisturiser without flare ups and its on offer) and the Bioderm sensitive (as there is a travel size one in the shop).

I've always had very dry skin, even in my teens but since being on immuno suppressant meds for atopic eczema, my skin has really changed and feels more oily on the t zone, chin and jawline.

I'm really wary of using anything like a toner (as I've never tolerated those before) but think will have to use something different to my usual balms/creamy cleansers.

Didn't use my usual balm this morning, just water and skin definitely feels better. Will give the Bioderm a go later.

Paradise - I’m already using damp cotton wool to wipe off balm. Anything that needs rinsing off with water really aggravates my eczema (it’s the water rather than the product).
How do you use the cerave cleanser?

I have eczema and for me bar soap&flannel turns out to be best.

paap1975 · 27/02/2020 09:51

I use the Avene one (clear) and it's great. I don't rinse it off (because my skin doesn't like water either) and it doesn't dry my skin at all. I love micellar water, it's the best product I've ever used
