Rose gold/pink hair - is it possible?

Flutterby63 · 24/02/2020 19:48

I have dark brown hair naturally (though I dyed it a very slightly dark brown at home 5 months ago).

Could I go as light as some kind of rose gold/pink effect, maybe ombre? What would be involved? Bleaching etc?

Something like this.

Your hair would need to be lightened first to achieve that. You say you coloured it a few months ago yourself, if you sat in my chair i would be taking test cuttings to check its compatible first and to see if it will lift evenly.
If thats all ok then yes it would be achievable.

Great thank you. Will see if I can get a consultation.

I had that exact colour. Maintaining was hard and it kept fading an awful colour. It wrecked my hair had to have 6 inches cut to get rid of bleach bits!

@Skyejuly Oh dear, that doesn't good! I'll speak to the consultant and see if I can get something closer to my natural colour.

Dd has her hair this colour, yes she had it bleached totally blonde first. It fades like mad though, so only remains that colour for a week or 2 and then is a slightly pink tinged blonde the rest of the time.

I have that colour at the moment and with balayage effect like the picture

The way I achieve it is to bleach the shit out of the ends of my hair, then tone it almost neon pink

Then wash the pink out (normally take 4-5 washes) until it fades to the colour I want

Then I maintain that colour by using dry shampoo and only shampooing the roots of my hair so washing the ends of my hair as rarely as humanly possible

It's really hard work

It sounds like very hard work!

I really want it though so may just bite the bullet, do it for a while and then get it knocked back to a closer to natural brown.

It's okay if you want the colour for one particular day/night/week but if you want this as a long-term colour then forget it. That's not to say you can't get lots of other nice shades on your way to this one but you can't just dye it this colour and expect it to be this colour for weeks and weeks.

It's a toner, rather than a colour so its only semi-permanent.

I would also always recommend colours/toners from your hairdresser rather than shop-bought. I've tried basically every kind on the market and the hairdressers' ones are always the best

Thank you. I'm going to get it done professionally but wasn't sure what that would entail.
