Warm and waterproof - need a dog walking coat

Not sure if this is the right place, maybe should be in doghouse!

Puppy incoming in about a month. Current coat wardrobe has been more suited to my City job so I need something practical, warm and properly waterproof.

Any ideas? And any views on walking boots vs wellies also welcome. Thanks!

Seasalt Janelle is my dog walking coat. Happy with it.

I've got a Craghoppers one that's thermal, waterproof, wind proof and wasn't expensive so don't care about mud, bramble pulls etc...

I wouldn't be too concerned just now. If pup 8 weeks (which isn't right but that's another matter), you've got another few weeks until after jags before it can go out and even then a good couple months before any longer walks and then its summer 😀

I would second the seasalt Janelle. I don't have a puppy but do a 3 mile school run every day and I'm kept warm and dry. It's so long that no wet legs which is brilliant!

I bought a longline Mark Todd coat in a sale recently online from a company called Equus . It’s warm , waterproof and stylish enough with some great features plus a great price . Would suggest if you are struggling look at the equestrian sites online.

Lands end stadium squall coat. I have a gull length one. It is waterproof entirely wind proof and cosy. Fab pockets for hands, poo bags, treats
Best coat ive ever owned.

Wellies I don't wear. Happy new pupper.

Thanks for all these suggestions, will check them out. Good to have first hand recommendations as many coats say they are waterproof but in reality when I’ve checked reviews they are leaky or shower proof at best.

As you say, there won’t be longer walks for a while but will be in and out of the garden at night whilst he goes to the loo and I don’t want wet pyjamas! He’s older than 8 weeks and house training is coming on well but I think it will be another month or so until going through the night properly.

I got one from Jack Murphy - mid-thigh so keeps me dry (I thought a long one would catch at my legs walking uphill) and is properly waterproof and warm, with big pockets to hold treats, toy/ball, lead, phone and poo bags. I do wish I’d got the one with hand warmer pockets too though.

Wellies aren’t supportive on longer walks, but useful when it’s pissing it down. I wear hiking boots - waterproof but relatively heavy. I wear trainers in nice weather but it’s been months since we had nice enough weather!

I wear these boots for dog walking, recommended to me by someone else on here.

Really comfy and waterproof. I’ve worn them nearly everyday for about 5 months now on dog walks and they still look in great condition.

I got a lined Barbour wax jacket and it's been amazing the last couple off weeks with all the wind and rain.

I have a long landsend coat that comes down to the top of my boots - waterproof and soooooo warm.
