Going to go skiing for the first time at the end of season and need to get ski kit... only I am a bottom heavy 16( was 18 but keto means lost 8 lbs since January so have time to fit 16 with room as now wear 16 jeans )

What brands or shops are good? Happy to go second hand but no idea what brands are worth it etc?

Thinking bright jacket and black trousers?

What else do I need?

And have fun. Skiing is an awesome holiday and it’s amazing how quickly you progress if you have lessons.

Do not let your husband teach you to ski. It will end either end your marriage or his life !

When you either leave him or kill him !!

Me, DH and kids ski twice a year. You have had some great pointers here.
I find sports direct really good value for jackets and ski pants. If you are going at end of season then it is likely to be warmer so layer up rather than get the super warm ski jacket! Merino base layer tops (mountain warehouse are good for these and often on sale) not cotton or poly. If you sweat (as we certainly do) merino takes the moisture away and doesn't smell!! I only wear a base layer under my jacket not a fleece as well otherwise I am too warm. Goggles a must, even in early April we ski in goggles and use sunglasses when sitting at a bar/restaurant on the slopes. Gloves obvs. I have my own custom fit boots so go for thin socks but if renting then thicker is probably better.
Finally, I always go to the podiatrist during the week before for hard skin removal, nails cut and corns sorted so my boots are then really comfy!
Have a fab time. We are skiing this week and having a great time!

Try ASOS - they had some ski gear for us bigger bottomed ladies!

I have quite chunky thighs and find that although 16 fits my bottom and waist - I have to go up a size for my thighs.

I ended up with size 16 dare2b ones... lovely.

Then skiing was cancelled. Aghhhh!
