Help me style this dress - again!

I posted about this dress a while back and received some good advice.

I'd settled on coral orange shoes and have bought the ones in the pic from office. I still need a bag and a pashmina and am so stuck on colours - don't want to look like a multicoloured mess! Help me please!

The dress is nice where is it from?

I'd go for cream pashmina and a cream or coral bag

FuckingHateRats · 16/02/2020 10:27

I'd get a back as closely-matched to the shoes as possible. Will you need a pashmina if your shoulders and top arms are covered?

Ninkanink · 16/02/2020 10:30

A pashmina in cream, and a clutch bag in the same blue as the dress. Or reverse it and have a blue pashmina and a cream clutch.

Ninkanink · 16/02/2020 11:02

(Just to be clear, I meant to match the blue in the flowers on the bodice)

nonsensicalmess · 16/02/2020 11:15

Thanks all. The dress is ASOS design. I try not to match bags and shoes but with several colours in the bodice maybe I am best going for a coral bag to match the shoes.

I think I'd feel a bit chilly without something around me? Dress is late March so could be cold.

I'd go for dark green or coral, anything else and it's just too much.

And to be honest, I'd pick forest green like the skirt..

Ninkanink · 16/02/2020 11:17

You could go for a lighter shade (so a salmon pink or peach, for example) that ties in with the coral. As long as the colours are complimentary they don’t need to actually match.

Ninkanink · 16/02/2020 11:18

Oh wait, no, that probably won’t work with orange shoes (although it could if the complimentary shade is just right).

Sweetandawfulsour · 16/02/2020 11:22

A pashminas a bit dated. A light long coat or a cropped jacket would be a better option in my opinion and a green clutch.
The dress is gorgeous but I wouldn’t want to add any more colours to the outfit.

PureedSocksAndPants · 16/02/2020 11:24

Agree with Bluntness. The coral looks lovely with the dark green by the way.

Ninkanink · 16/02/2020 11:29

Oh i like that dark green box clutch a lot! Agree it might be better not to add another colour. Green and coral are beautiful together.

Disagree on pashminas - they might not be trendy but I think they’re a fairly classic item which means they don’t date as such.

Ninkanink · 16/02/2020 11:30

Coat or cropped jacket would definitely work, I just think it’s a real shame to cover up that beautiful bodice any more than strictly necessary.

Sweetandawfulsour · 16/02/2020 11:32

Dependant on your age and style, a leather biker jacket? I know my mum who’s touching 65 could pull off a leather jacket with this dress but I couldn’t in my thirties.

A pashmina is great but with a dress that’s below the knee and with those shoes a pashmina would make it look frumpy Blush

Ninkanink · 16/02/2020 11:34

What about a faux fur stole?

Ninkanink · 16/02/2020 11:36

Definitely agree on dark green bag. I don’t know why I discounted it as it’s one of my favourite colours so I was thinking that’s what I would wear with it, but for some reason thought OP might not like it.

Orchidflower1 · 16/02/2020 11:38

I think the green clutch up thread is fab and a faux fur stole as pp said would finish it off nicely.

FabulouslyElegantTits · 16/02/2020 11:42

Not a Pashmina or stole - a long coat or biker jacket with that forest green clutch that someone posted would look great

I think biker jacket too

nowlook · 16/02/2020 11:47

I think a jacket like this (but not this, obviously £££) would be good as long as you're not too bulky on top (I am; need a sleek tux-style blazer)

Ah you're all stars! LOVE that green clutch ❤️ think I'll order it!

I'm late 30s but couldn't pull off a biker jacket to a wedding. Any ideas for cropped jackets or alternatives??

I've ordered that clutch @Sweetandawfulsour - thank you!

If you’re intending or thinking you might need to wear it throughout the day I’m not too sure what to suggest.
A pashmina would complicate the outfit, a jacket or coat throughout would look like you want to make a hasty exit.
Have a look at thermal undies/tops, I used to have a thermal top that scooped under the boob?
www.riverisland.com/p/light-pink-tie-belted-duster-jacket-795602 A similar style to this would do if just wearing whilst waiting around outside

Pajamagirl · 16/02/2020 13:17

Imo pashmina s are messy especially with a pleated skirted dress . A coral jacket could work , leave it open to show off the bodice ( and slip it off as much as possible )
sorry if I
Missed this but is this for a wedding ?

Beautiful dress ( like bag and shoes too ) (wear the shoes in before the day tho )

nonsensicalmess · 16/02/2020 13:31

It is for a wedding @Pajamagirl Smile I love the dress and don't really do stiletto heels so was glad to find something coral with a chunkier heel.
Now to search for jackets!

Had a quick look on eBay - what do you think of either of these?
