Shoe help

Can anyone suggest any places other than Clarks, Hotter and M&S that sell comfy shoes which aren't completely frumpy? I'm a five and a half but have wide feet and a high instep. There are lots of shoes I love the look of, but can barely get my foot in without them hurting. Need to be smart for work. Preferably black although navy would be good too.

I have the exact same feet , same size and shape. I find Fitflop comfortable. I have some Gabor sandals in the wide fitting that are Heavenly to wear, their boots look good too. Angulus (Danish brand) do a wide fit in a few styles.
My absolute favourite shoes are Chie Mihara, spendy but fabulous and fit me beautifully. Also have some shoes from Toast that are very comfortable.

What sort of style do you need and like ?

Cecilia2016 · 13/02/2020 14:53

Yes fitflop are really soft and comfortable. I just bought 2 pairs in Debenhams sale and I will be buying the same brand from now and I also have wide feet too.

Ooh - replies. Thank you! I find flatter, but not completely flat most comfortable. I do a lot of walking around although I am office based and usually find heels crippling after a couple of hours. A small heel is fine if the shoe fits well across the toes, as are low wedge heels.

I was going to suggest Gabor, as another poster has.

wowfudge · 14/02/2020 08:07

Thank you for the suggestions so far - SirVix I was looking at some Gabor shoes online when I checked the thread.

I am definitely going to buy more Gabor shoes. My best friend has had foot surgery and also has wide feet, and she found them very comfortable and suggested them to me when I had a painful foot last year ( I think in hindsight I had probably broken a toe). Both of us have naturally wide feet, rather than plump feet, I also have a high instep which can take up the room in the shoe. I like the style of Camper shoes but they are often rather narrow now, and so not as comfortable as they look. My Gabor sandals were a revelation! Wedges, but not too high, with padding under the foot. Go for the G fitting, that is their wider fit, like the Clarks E.

Riker shoes are amazingly comfy and they have some which dont look old lady like

nonicknameseemsavailable · 14/02/2020 11:03

Reiker

wowfudge · 14/02/2020 11:05

Another suggestion - great and thank you.

If you go on the 'simplybe' website they do a good range of different makes if wide fitting shoes

wowfudge · 15/02/2020 15:52

I've ordered a couple of pairs of Gabor shoes from Debenhams. Wasn't keen on Rieker - they seemed to be casual shoes from the website.

Fly London. Comfortable as slippers. Not your ordinary shoe.

Snog · 18/02/2020 06:40

Fly London and White Stuff both make comfortable shoes for wider feet. Also Ecco.

grannycake · 18/02/2020 06:51

i have a very similar problem and have found that for work shoes there is a good selection of EEE fittings on j d williams - although the majority are hideous I have found ankle boots and work shoes there

Feelingfestivenow · 18/02/2020 07:06

Have a look at the French brand Mephisto,

wowfudge · 18/02/2020 07:55

Thank you for these other suggestions - Fly London aren't my cup of tea having had a look. The JD Williams selection is very varied and nowhere near as expensive as some of the others.

OP posts:
grannycake · 18/02/2020 08:19

The boots/shoes I have from JD Williams are fine for work I don't love them but they don't hurt my feet - the fact they are reasonably priced is a win win for me

grannycake · 18/02/2020 08:20

I also bought some shoe stretchers from Amazon - they have allowed me to stretch previously unwearable shoes. Not all of them but at least 4 pairs

Girlintheframe · 18/02/2020 08:30

New look do some great fashion shoes in wide fittings

wowfudge · 19/02/2020 20:49

My two pairs of Gabor shoes should arrive tomorrow. I can't keep them both due to the cost so will see which are comfiest and I think I'll wear most. I think I will try JD Williams though.

SirVixofVixHall · 19/02/2020 23:37

I hope they are lovely OP.

wowfudge · 21/02/2020 09:32

The heels are too big and I'm not sure about the flatter ones tbh. Will think it over.

JD Williams, SimplyBe, Ambrose Wilson, Jacamo, Crazy Clearance, and Fashionworld all sell the same brands of EEE and EEEE fit shoes. If you find a pair you like (I know they’re mostly hideous, but stick with it, there is the odd gem 🤣) check all the websites because for some unknown reason they all have different prices.

My fashion-conscious 19 year old has ridiculously super-wide feet and she got a pair of slides and a pair of trainers from SimplyBe last year that she wore to death all summer.
