Sorry another foundation one...

Am I meant to match my face or neck??

I work outside so tend to be quite a bit darker on my face than the rest of me which is very pale.

I did the Boots foundation match thingy and the machine diagnosed me as Cool Ivory which seems to match my jaw but looks a bit dark when it’s all over my face.

Recently bought some paler stuff (MF or maybelline - it’s called Long Wear?) in Buff which is Much paler with a view to mixing the two.

However I prefer the look of the pale one on its own! If I just swipe a bit on my jaw it stands out really pale but when it’s all over it blends with my neck and I prefer the look of it...

I’m pale blonde and tan very gradually if at all.

Help!

I match it to my jaw but often find this isint enough. I recently got colour matched in Mac and the shade looked perfect, however once I tried the sample over my whole face it didn't look quite right. I've ended up going a shade darker which looks much better. Sometimes you just don't know until to apply it e everywhere.

I always used to use DW in Shell which looking back was far too pale but at the same time it kind of suited me 🤨

Yes I know what you mean. The original Mac colour I used looked fine but was a bit 'cold'. Hard to describe but not quite right.

Controversial but I find if you blend properly and with damp beauty blender darker will always be better than pale x

It's hard to get one colour to match all over as your skin isn't one basic colour, I would use a powered on top to help blend and to make it look more natural.

So my makeup base is

Primer
Concealer
Cream highlighter around eyes high cheeks etc
Then a foundation to other areas
Then one powder over foundation face/neck
Then light powder of highlighted areas.
I'd then go on to add blusher/ bronzer.

If using just one colour the face looks too bland and has not enough definition.

Hope this helps.

You conceal and highlight before foundation??

I do with concealer but it depends how much coverage I want.
I also don't put foundation over highlighter etc. I only use the foundation on certain parts of my face. Then highlighter in others. This is how I was taught to do it by Mac.
