Disgusting skin, what is it?!

I have been having problems with my skin for about 18 months. I have a 9 month old baby and it seemed to start in pregnancy.

I went to the doctors and got a cream that didn't make much difference.

I use Paula's choice skincare daily and I exfoliate in the shower maybe twice a week. I always remove my make up with make up wipes first.

I'm thinking its blocked pores with slight breakout spots but it's not the red spots that are bothering me as they come and go really quickly, it's the lumpy bits as you can see in the photo as they never seem to go!

Any ideas? I have seen lots of recommendations on here and thought you'd all have an idea or some recommendations. The next step is a £220 private dermatology consultancy. Sad

Wipes aren’t meant to get make up off, you need to wash with a cleanser and remove with a damp warm face cloth.

Ditch the scrubs, very irritating.

Is it on your cheeks? I developed rosacea in pregnancy and it comes up like hot red little pimples that don't break the surface. Could it be that? The only thing that seems to relieve it is cutting right back on dairy products (for some reason)

Russell19 · 12/02/2020 15:44

Yes on my cheeks, nothing on my forehead or nose, tiny little bit on my chin.

Looks like acne rosacea. Go back to docs for better cream or tablets.

I had duac gel on prescription which did the trick

@Fluffycloudland77 I do cleanse but after I have removed make up with wipes. Mainly eye make up and lipstick.

Go back to basics, a creamy cleanser that you remove with damp cotton wool, a simple moisturiser/eye cream. I'm thinking maybe something like The Body Shop Aloe Vera range. Nothing which claims to turn back the clock or retinal or any of that.

My skin looks the same at the minute and my baby is 6mo. I wonder if it's hormonal. Are you breastfeeding? It was pretty good in pregnancy and until fairly recently though

Russell19 · 12/02/2020 17:39

I am breastfeeding yes. I did wonder if it was something hormonal.

Closed comedowns? Try a chemical exfoliator. The Ordinary have good, cheap ones, but you’ll need to make sure you select the best one for your skin type and keep at it for a few weeks.

Comedones! Not comedowns Grin

Obviously what you're using isn't agreeing with your skin. I agree with a pp about dialling it down before trying expensive stuff.

MyShinyWhiteTeeth · 12/02/2020 20:28

My skin changed when I was pregnant. It took about 5 years to get back to normal. Pregnancy seemed to make it dryer. I ended up changing all my cleansers and moisturisers to much milder versions. I stopped using face scrubs.

Oil of Ulay moisturiser and some aloe vera and chamomile cleansers worked for me.

GinandGingerBeer · 12/02/2020 23:06

Ditch the wipes! They are full of alcohol and really bad for your skin. Try ceraVe cleanser and moisturiser. Has ceramides in it and should really help. It's not expensive either (there was a thread on it a week or two ago if you have have search)

Try some freederm treatment gel on your cheeks after washing morning and night and make sure you are getting enough b vitamins. A mixed B compound supplement will help
