What’s going on here? ... pictures

Please be gentle.

In the following photos I’m showing two images of my undereye area. The first taken in August 2019. The second, this morning.

It’s as if the skin under my eyes has “all of a sudden” collapsed. Literally. In the past ten months I have experienced the death of my mum and dad (separately) and have the constant stress of caring for my disabled son.

What can I do? I did go through months when it was all I could do not to just sit, slumped, in tears. Even so, what can I do about this dramatic deterioration? Any specific cream? Anything? I have a family wedding in the summer. I think people will be shocked at how I’ve changed.

Any suggestions appreciated.

It doesn’t look too bad to me OP, but if it bothers you, you could consider seeking advice from a cosmetic surgeon? It’s probably easily solved.

Ohyesiam · 09/02/2020 13:39

Look up face aerobics on YouTube My eyes were worse than yours, and now look fine. I no longer have “tear troughs” .
It’s 10 mins a day if you do the whole face and neck. Really really worth it.

Ohyesiam · 09/02/2020 13:40

Sorry about your losses btw Flowers

winterisstillcoming · 09/02/2020 13:46

Have you lost weight? Sunken hollows are usually loss of fat from that area. It happens to everyone in varying degrees as we age.

Fillers are the only real way to scaffold the area. There's something called sunexo but not too sure what that is.

AnuvvaMuvva · 09/02/2020 14:03

@Ohyesiam Please please post a link to the specific face aerobics that you do.

AnuvvaMuvva · 09/02/2020 14:05

OP, I've been using the Olay Regenerist eye cream (it's skin-coloured, in a teeny tiny glass jar) and having very good results for tightening it all up.

Sorry about your awful losses. 💐

BrandoraPaithwaite · 09/02/2020 14:11

I'm so sorry about your losses. And it must be hard caring full time for a family member. Big respect to you for coping with everything.

Your face is lovely. You may be feeling a bit run down, understandably. You are probably tired, dehydrated maybe, not been prioritising eating the best diet and not finding time for resting and relaxing. No wonder!
You do NOT need an invasive, painful procedure! Ageing is not an illness or fault to be corrected. It's natural and normal. I bet with plenty of sleep, water, healthy foods and being kind to yourself you'll feel and look great. Take care and love yourself the way you are.

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/02/2020 14:11

You need a red light led device, you’ve been through a lot & it looks like the skins sagging. You can get ones that look like sunglasses.

I mix the ordinary vitamin c powder with their caffeine serum too because it’s meant to thicken the skin, thicker skins stronger to my mind.

drina27 · 09/02/2020 14:30

I think the photograph on the right is best. Is that the most recent one?

dudsville · 09/02/2020 14:57

I once went through an intensely sad period and it showed in my eyes. I think all the salty tears were drying and I wasn't in a place to look after myself, and that skin is so thin and sensitive. Firstly I'd recommend you be kind to yourself. You've been through it and your body shows it. THat's normal human behaviour. But I also know what it's like to not want your eyes to show like that. Mine never went back to normal, and perhaps I've got used to it, but I also started using lots of rich creams often. I doesn't have to be expensive. Cerave has one for dry skin with hyalauronic acid and peptides (I have no idea what peptides do) and this feels good. I use it all over my entire body - including eyes. It can be hard with an SN child, but maybe keep a pot around the house and dip into it from time to time when passing?

TheLadyAnneNeville · 09/02/2020 15:05

@drinam do you mean the “eyeliner” photo. To be fair in the “bad” shot, I’ve got mascara on and no concealer. In the other one, I’m going out and have concealer and eyeliner on but I wanted a photo that showed the difference in skin elasticity and couldn’t find one. I’m not a selfie enthusiast at the best of times!

@Fluffycloudland77...I’ll need to look red lights up. I’ve no idea what they are. And yes, the skin is loose/sagging, I can’t imagine how it’d now go back to being lifted without the help of stitches and the skill of a surgeon. I feel like it’s just lost it’s padding. Does padding grow back with sleep/water/rest/time?

@winterisstillcoming, no. Oddly, despite feeling nauseated and people commenting that I need to eat, I’ve gained weight. Very strange.

I’ve recently bought the CeraVe Eye Cream after seeing it recommended here so, need to give it a go, I guess.

Thank you for the thoughtful comments and understanding. I suppose I have more to worry about than wrinkles but frankly, it’s making me feel awful.

Tear drop fillers would resolve it OP. Get recommendations for someone who specialises in aesthetics in your area. Make sure that they have a medical qualification.

TheLadyAnneNeville · 09/02/2020 18:17

@BunsyGirl I’ll have a look at that.

I hope over time, it’ll get better but I doubt it.

BunsyGirl · 09/02/2020 19:04

TheLadyAnneNeville ...sorry, I think it’s actually called tear trough filler. Not tried it myself but the salon I go to does it and I have seen photos of some amazing results.

Ohyesiam · 09/02/2020 21:48

@AnuvvaMuvva
I’m sorry I’m an old glimmer who has no idea how to do linksGrin. But just you go onto you tube and search Renew Me Face Aerobics.
She has six series, with an “ exercise along with me” video for each one, and then a separate video for each exercise ,where she goes into ( too much) detail on how to do each exercise.
I think she also has a website called Renew Me where she explains all this, again in great detail.( can you tell I don’t like detailGrin).
HTH, but if none of it makes sense when you try and find it, let me know what problems you’re having with it, and I’ll see if I can explain it better.

AnuvvaMuvva · 10/02/2020 13:58

@Ohyesiam Thank you!! That's really helpful. I'll check it out. :)

damnthatanxiety · 10/02/2020 17:26

Sadly, facial exercises won't deal with loose skin, only sagging due to weak muscles. For the loose saggy underage skin, the only real solution is to have them removed. But short of that, using a retinol products especially for the eye area (milder) that may stimulate collagen and keeping yourself hydrated is the best option.

damnthatanxiety · 10/02/2020 17:27

under eye not underage

TheLadyAnneNeville · 10/02/2020 18:07

@Damnthatanxiety I know you’re right. I’m seriously thinking of the knife.

OP posts:
TheLadyAnneNeville · 11/02/2020 10:47

Have ordered this ... Am willing to give it a go as it’s got good reviews and couldn’t afford the glasses shaped one at that price. Will come back in a month. If it doesn’t help a little, I’m under the knife (something I never thought I’d contemplate).

In case it helps. removing eyeball surgery is considered very safe and unlikely to have complications.

TheLadyAnneNeville · 11/02/2020 17:38

@damnthatanxiety no!!! Don’t want my eyeball removing. Just the flappy skin beneath 😊

My eyes would look like that with no make up and the lens 2 inches from my skin.

happyjack12 · 11/02/2020 20:37

ooh, looking forward to your update!
