Please recommend a tubing mascara.

I am completely fed up with my mascara leaving black smudges and flakes under my eyes. I recently read about Tubing mascaras and they seem to be what I'm looking for.
Can anyone recommend a particular make?
I wear contact lenses and have sensitive eyes.
My eyelashes are ridiculously short but I have quite a lot of them. I like my lashes to be dark and generally apply 3 coats for volume.
Any suggestions? Thanks

So it's just mascara then Confused.

SlipperyLizard · 08/02/2020 23:04

I’ve tried lots and find them all quite similar, so tend to go for L’Oréal double extension or No 7 one, whichever is 3 for 2.

Tubing mascara is made from a polymer which dries in a ‘tube’ around each lash. It only comes off with water over 39°, and doesn’t flake if you rub your eyes which is why it’s so good for contact lens wearers. I can’t wear anything else. Annoyingly, manufacturers almost never use the term ‘tubing’. The best clue is to check the removal instructions, which will mention warm water. Normal eye make up remover will do nothing for tubing mascara.

Clinique lash power is tubing but the brush is awful. Their flutter to full mascara is discontinued now but if you can get hold of it from an outlet it is tubing and has a much better brush.

L’Oréal Beauty Tubes is tubing but the white undercoat stuff is a waste imho.

I think the only other two I know of which haven’t been mentioned are Estée Lauder Double Wear and MAC Extended Play Gigablack.

Benefit They’re Real! is not tubing.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll start looking at them.

Not sure if it’s tubing but I really rate the Hourglass mascara - the gold one

CallofDoodee · 09/02/2020 15:01

I use the L'Oréal double ended one, for the non smudging reasons.

SoTiredTonight · 09/02/2020 15:07

Definitely the L’Oréal Double Extension beauty tubes. My absolute go to and I have contacts as well as quite sensitive eyes. And as PPs stated, I rarely use the white bit either as I don’t think it makes much difference. I stock up when they’re on 3 for 2, works out around £8/£9 each that way which is cheap as chips for what you get! Grin

Kevin Aucoin (so?) Does one.

BlackSwan · 09/02/2020 21:59

Yes the Kevin Aucoin one is excellent - space nk sells

KatzP · 09/02/2020 22:32

Another vote for Kevin aucoin. Either curling or volume as both are tubing. The essentials one is not.

Destinesia · 09/02/2020 22:34

DHC is also good, very similar to Clinique Lash Power.

I'm currently using the Kevin Aucoin one which came free with the eyelash curler, it's good but I wouldn't pay full price for it.

mistermagpie · 09/02/2020 23:25

I like the L'Oréal double ended one but the white end annoys me because it's such a waste of time. The No7 one is good too but more expensive.

It annoys me that the manufacturers don't use the term 'tubing' though as I will only buy this type now and it can be hard to figure out which are tubing.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 09/02/2020 23:58

Clinique Hard Wearing is tubing mascara but it has an irritating tiny brush.

LuluJakey1 · 10/02/2020 00:02

No7 Stay Perfect. Have tried others and always come back to it.

SalmonOfKnowledge · 10/02/2020 00:03

I like these but i thought it was just an alternatuve kind of brush! 🤔

itsgettingcloser · 10/02/2020 00:09

Greasy lids and sensitive eyes. Tried lots of them and without a doubt the Clinique lash power one is the best and I’ve never had a spider eye look or felt my lashes where stiff.

gaffamate · 10/02/2020 04:23

I find the loreal double one smudges and is really stiff, much prefer lash power

SundayTimesTable · 10/02/2020 07:13

Another Lash Power fan. It was recommended to me on here years ago, smudge free, lasts and comes off with facial wash.
Lens wearer too.

DreamingofSunshine · 10/02/2020 07:32

I think I'm going to have to try Lash Power given there's so many recs.

I wish they made it more clear which ones are tubing mascaras. I've got blepharitis and can't use eye make up remover at the moment so I need a tubing mascara that I can wash off. I used the No7 but wasn't blown away.

GCAcademic · 10/02/2020 07:38

Clinique Lash Power.

Benefit They’re Real is a good mascara, but it is not tubing.

cheesycrisps · 10/02/2020 08:45

I’ve used DHC for a few years now and keep coming back to it. The little brush means it doesn’t go all over my lids and it gives coverage like a normal mascara. Get from amazon.

SoTiredTonight · 10/02/2020 12:48

@gaffamate Are you definitely talking about the red L’Oréal one?

RougeVinEtFromage · 10/02/2020 15:01

orders lash power

damnthatanxiety · 10/02/2020 17:13

They often don't call themselves 'tubing'. Look out for descriptions that state that they are smudge proof and can be removed with just warm water. That indicates it is tubing. Clinique do a good one as mentioned but I prefer Estee Lauder Double Wear zero smudge lengthening mascara as it actually gives some oomph. Clinique is a bit too thin and natural for me. Kevyn Aucoin does a good one too.

mistermagpie · 10/02/2020 18:02

Lash power is a bit pricey for me but it is good. What I tend to do is use the tubing one on my bottom lashes only and a normal one on the top lashes as I don't really get smudging on my eyelids.
