I’m on hols in three weeks and my skin from the neck down has barely seen the light of day for months.

What would you do to get the glow back to get in a bikini? Any better options than st tropez the night before I fly??

I always get a spray tan before going on holiday- I know lots of people recoil in horror at the idea but I find them so much less orange and a much more even coverage than fake tanning myself. If you have the tanning shop near you (I think the brand has one in most cities/large towns?) they have machine ones which is what I use and have never had a bad result with.

It makes such a difference- on the first few days of holiday I don’t feel glowingly pale and try to panic tan (burn!) as a result so by the end of my holiday when the spray tan has faded I have a nice long lasting tan which has been built up gradually

See if your local shops sell any of the new ‘clear’ or ‘water’ mousse tans. They are less likely to stain your holiday outfits, and smell a little less terrible (so you can wear it on the plane). It’s been a saviour for last minute ‘oh god I’m so pale I’m light blue’ moments for me.

Clear (looks like a bottle of expensive water) fake tans still need some work, but they have their place. Use a fake tan mitt applicator and focus while you do it. You need to remember where you have and haven’t already put it on! Also try a citrus or vanilla body wash when it’s time to wash it off- it lessens the ongoing tan smell. I have a citrus light perfume I carry too.

St tropez have one.

  • St Tropez have the clear tanner, not the perfume.

Sienna x or bondi sands are good

I'm a fan of skinny tan these days. Takes the edge off my natural pale blue tinge, no problems with streaking and doesn't have that orange hue about it.
