The elusive foundation for oily (and old and haggard) skin

I need foundation to even out skin tone

Skin tone is also quite yellow toned with red patches

Dark circles under eyes, crows feet and make up settle skin creases under eyes

Also have very oily nose and apples of cheeks with large pores

ALL foundations slide off. I've tried primers and they look awful, sit on skin and then become greasy...

I've tried going without foundation and I look ill, tired and washed out

So, now I've painted a lovely picture of my skin, does anyone have the miracle foundation that will fix all of the above?

Placemarking. Still have a face oilier than a Crisp n Dry factory at 45..... Confused

I'm 35 with oily skin and I use Hourglass stick foundation - started using it about 2 years ago and haven't looked back

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 03/02/2020 21:43

I too have a horrendously oily face, 38

Today, for the first time I used Flower Beauty Light Illusion, and it was great

It's Drew Barrymore range, affordable, like £12 I think

Superdrug exclusive but its never in store so I got it online

According to Nadine Baggott its a Chanel dupe

I also have elf blotting paper

FeatherInTheWind · 03/02/2020 21:47

Gratefully Googling all suggestions now

I have exactly your skin and use Nars tinted moisturiser for oily skin - it’s very good and evens things out nicely.

lolbrador · 03/02/2020 21:51

I'm telling anyone who will listen about it cosmetics. Bye bye undereye concealer and the cc cream. I'm also oily and this stuff is just a game changer!

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 03/02/2020 21:56

OP I strongly recommend you get yourself over to Nadine Baggott on Youtube

British Beauty Blogging

She's 58 so does recommend for older skin a lot more but she also does Beauty Hags with Jo Jones

She strongly recommends IT Cosmetics CC as mentioned by PP

FeatherInTheWind · 03/02/2020 22:15

Thank you will go and look on YouTube

I have recently brought Maybelline radiant dream liquid foundation - and it's bloody awesome!
It's not overly dewy, but very natural and skin like. It blends like a dream and can be built up to cover redness with zero cakiness.
It hydrates the skin, and although I have oily skin, it is also dehydrated, so I apply it on top of 3/4 layers of serum, rice bran or squalene oil, moisturiser and primer -and it doesn't leave me like an oil slick.
I do set with powder and blot at lunchtime, but it lasts all day long.
It's perfect for mature skin and really gives a lovely look to the skin.

I also love Maybelline superstay stick foundation as well. Cover redness like a dream and not as sticky as other foundation sticks.

£12 for two Maybelline at Superdrug right now too!

MrsPworkingmummy · 03/02/2020 22:20

I have a similar skin type and use phoera foundation, then loose powder over the top. My skin looks slightly shiny by mid-day, but the foundation definitely stops the redness coming through.

trumpisaflump · 03/02/2020 22:26

I also have similar skin and like other posters love IT cosmetics CC cream. I apply with a foundation brush and it really evens my skin out and makes me look healthy. I still need powder in my t zone though but don't mind.

OhioOhioOhio · 03/02/2020 22:26

Does anyone use that jml covers everything on everyone powder?

MaybeDoctor · 03/02/2020 22:30

Watching with interest.

Am I the only one who has considered actually massaging the oil into the drier parts of my face?

Tolleshunt · 03/02/2020 22:31

I might try the IT cosmetics one, as QVC do it and I can therefore send it back if it’s no good for me.

Elllllle · 03/02/2020 22:53

Sephora sells travel sizes of the IT cosmetics Cc cream. I find it transfers onto everything however.

PersonaNonGarter · 03/02/2020 23:00

I really like this La Roche Posay BB cream which absorbs oil. It’s a cross between a tinted moisturiser and a powder.

Sounds weird but it is very effective for light coverage. It was a Sali Hughes recommendation. Very limited colour range but that’s partly because coverage is pretty light.

readingismycardio · 04/02/2020 04:15

OP, have you ever tried the new one from urban decay (stay naked)? I love it and I loved the previous one too. Otherwise, I'd give Make up forever HD a go too.

JMAngel1 · 04/02/2020 05:43

ha ha this is me! Throughout the day, I have to bkot my t zone and moisturise under my eyes - it's a bonkers situation!
I swirched to EL DW last summer and it's freakin amazing but NOT under the eges. I use the teeniest amount (like a pin head) and buff it into nose, chin and blend out then LM translucent powder for oil control. Best combo I've found. I tried IT CC and had to wash it off around 3 hours later - hot mess.
For under my eyes I use TO Marula oil and then Benefit Brightening Under eye concealer in the tub - really hydrating and never cakes.

Dennisreynoldsduster · 04/02/2020 05:46

Chantecaille Just Skin. It’s expensive but lasts for ages and is MAGIC

NotProudOfMyself · 04/02/2020 09:08

I have naturally very oily skin. So oily that at primary school kids would tease me that you could fry chips on my face. Ah well. However, counterintuitive I discovered oil cleansing. I use Superfacialist rose oil, followed by cream cleanser. I ca t tell you what a difference it has made to how oily my skin is. I would give it a go if I was you.

woodencoffeetable · 04/02/2020 09:15

the body shop bb cream.

ReginaGeorgeous · 04/02/2020 09:44

I've got an oily forehead and I've never yet found a liquid foundation that didn't leave my forehead looking shiny and sweaty. I've changed to powder foundation and it's been a game changer for me. I'm currently using Dior Forever Skin, I really like it. You can build it up to the coverage level you want.
