What to use instead of foundation on holiday

I know the easy answer is 'nothing', but I have very very red, and blotchy uneven skin. Day to day at home I use Estee Lauder double wear to cover it up. While most days I'll go without I'd like to make an effort for some dinners out but it'll be hot and humid and I don't want to wear full foundation. Any suggestions that will actually help even my skin tone and make me look a little more polished?

How about using a primer on the areas where you have redness etc.
Benefit do a highlighting primer that gives a nice sheen/glow, or Stellar have a product called brilliant primer that’s very light and easily applied.

W7 pore minimizer has changed my life. Its very light, slightly flesh toned and evens out beautifully for me. I got it from Amazon.

I also recommend garnier bb cream. I'm a heavy make up wearer and I thought this would be too light. It's perfect for holidays and I even wear it some days here. The coverage is really good. Start off small amounts building it up to how you like. It evens out complexion. It leaves the skin kind of duey, not shiny, but quite natural with a glow. If I'm looking for a more matt look I use Elizabeth Arden primer under it, you only need a small amount of primer, the result isn't powdery, you still have the duey look, it does hold much better. I did try smash box primer but it ended up feeling tacky. The amount of compliments I get when I wear it is astounding as it feels like I've nothing on my skin.

Seconding complexion corrector by bare minerals. I've had it time and again and it's all wear on holiday. It's water based so light when it's on and doesn't take much blending or dry out skin.

I'm not taking foundation on holiday. Just going to use a facial sun cream ( oil free) as I'm going to have a light coverage spray tan.

I generally use a Cc cream as it evens out skin tone, currently using the bodyshop peach one which is good.

I used bare minerals complexion last summer & loved it too - however looks like it may be in process of being discontinued - most shades seem out of stock on every website??

Clarins self-tan bronzing gel for body...
Use a dab on my face every other day right throughout the year - to look like a goddess

Kiehl's do a SPF 50 with tint which I've used on hoilday and found fine, no 'melting' facor. If you are already using they're regular SPF and are happy with it, then might be a good try.

I also found it less yellow then some tinted moisturisers, and more of a natural peachy colour

*for fair skin

I'm going to try Boots No7 protect & perfect tinted facial sun lotion spf30 as I like their bb cream.

Annasgirl · 28/02/2020 15:12

I used Vichey Factor 50 Suncream BB cream for my past 2 sun holidays as I have very fair skin. It is great - you look done but are not sticky. If you have very sensitive skin La Roche Posay do a Tinted version of their Anthelios factor 50 and they do a BB cream of their Toleraine moisturiser (the only thing I can put on my skin when I have a flare up) and their Rosaliac.

I'm a fan of IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+cream and I've also recently discovered Tropic's Beauty Boost Sheer Foundation which is really just like a tinted moisturiser. They both give a really nice even effect without being heavy.
