Thin, weak nail recommendations please!

I have been having my nails professionally done once a month for the past 10 years.

They are long but thin and weak as I have SNS over the top to stop them breaking/give a polished look.

At £35 a month I feel this money could be of better use now that we may have to look into IVF and or private testing.

Does anyone know of any tips/tricks/products I can use to stop them being thin and weak? My plan is to have SNS removed and my nails cut right down.

Thanks everyone x

Use a good hand cream and massage into the base of t he nails. Mine are thin but quite long. If I don't do the hand cream they snap.

Mine are weak and flaky/peeling

Only things that help a bit are obsessive oiling of cuticles and wearing nail wraps to protect them (currently loving Lily and Fox)

I would start taking a good multi vitamin. I got some specific hair and nail beauty ones from morrisons which were dead cheap and it had made a massive difference and they are growing much quicker too

Nunail nail cream is amazing. Get it in boots for around £3

Keep your nails short and neat until they strengthen up, use the nail cream regularly especially after washing hands and going to bed.

I just had the same issue and kept all products off my nails for around 3 months. They are now much stronger even without polish

Sea Kelp tablets are good for nails & hair too.

There's a sally Hanson nail strengthener my mum uses, it's quite expensive but worth it according to her

Biotin.
It’s cheap and benefits nails, skin and hair.

OPI nail envy works for me. It’s pricey but lasts well.

I swear by CND Rx keratin rescue repair

Take biotin. It really works. It takes a few months for the results to show, because of course, nails take a long time to grow.

I find that after a while I start to get acne spots, and now, as soon as I see the first spot, I stop taking it for three or four days.

SSc45 · 03/02/2020 00:56

Look into IBX treatment, it's a professional treatment but it does work, it penetrates the layers and fuses them together. I'm a nail tech and I offer it and get really good results from my clients!! Cuticle oil twice a day as well, dadi'oil is by far the best oil I've ever used so try that if you can!! Normal nail strengthening treatments from boots work well too xx

The Sally Hanson vit E oil is really good it’s made a huge difference to my nails

Another vote for OPI Nail Envy - it's a miraculous product that can be found at a reasonable price on eBay and QVC sometimes feature it when they do an OPI Today's Special Value.

Buy 10,000mcg Biotin tablets around a fiver for 120 on eBay. You should see the results in a couple of weeks; your nails will be noticeably stronger and your hair will feel thicker.

DonKeyshot · 03/02/2020 05:28

As it happens, QVC are launching an OP TSV at 9pm on Wednesday and then from midnight when it's likely that, in addition to the TSV, it's likely that a variety of OPI products will be featured and they usually include Nail Envy if there isn't one in the TSV.

Whatever the TSV contains, or buying Nail Envy separately, is likely to be less than £35, OP.

I've started taking Solgar 'Hair, skin and nail' tablets. My nails are much harder and stronger. They used to be weak and split very quickly. Have just bought another bottle from amazon as they are making such a difference.
